A person is in custody in connection with a series of antisemitic online threats made against Cornell University’s Jewish community, NY Gov. Kathy Hochul said

“law enforcement identified a person of interest as part of the investigation and this individual is currently in the custody of the New York State Police for questioning,” Hochul said in Tuesday’s statement, adding public safety was a “top priority” and that she was “committed to combatting hate and bias wherever it rears its ugly head.”

I fully expected this. Like I posted earlier, Israel voted out a very popular Golda Meir even after winning the 1973 war, because they blamed her for being caught off guard to the surprise attack.

If you mean people who support Hamas are dumb, you are correct.

If you mean people who oppose the bombing of civilians in Gaza are dumb, you are incorrect.

One can hold that distinction in one's mind, even if unconditional supporters of Bibi cannot. A good chunk of Israelis are apparently capable of it, considering Bibi is cratering in popularity.
 
Yes, I’m talking to the ones chanting ages-old antisemitic cheers and ripping pictures of hostages down.

It doesn’t seem like there are as many of these people that can make the distinction as I’d like, but wouldn’t doubt that the media wants me to feel that way.

White guilt is a common tactic used by Palestinian supporters.

Their favorite here is to make it sound similar to the way Native Americans were treated. Ya know, the White European colonizers coming in and forcing the poor, helpless Palestinians off their land that they had held for centuries. Just, no comments about how the Palestinians acquired the land themselves…

That's true of many Native Americans, too.

"Tactic" is loaded language -- ammunition for disregarding somebody else's opinion, denigrating them, and setting up a strawman.

I don't care which side the person supports (I consider myself a supporter of both sides' civilians and an opponent of both sides' killers). If you are not willing to engage on the facts and you have to resort to rhetorical tactics, then your opinion is meaningless. It's just "yay me, boo you."

There's going to be massive stupidity and hate on both sides, because "kill the infidel" makes better TV than "we should try to live together in peace." And because, 2500 years after The Eumenides, 95% of our species has still not been able to let go of "an eye for an eye."

Most of us are, at bottom, apes.
