Gaza 2023: The Next Episode

I'm not shocked by it, it's been around for years. I think plenty of people have selectively ignored it.

It was a lot less out there than it is now. They feel empowered...

If you guys know who Josh Gad is follow him on Threads. (He left X) He is damned near having a nervous breakdown with the stuff being posted. The videos out there are friggin scary.

And make no mistake the Islamophobia that is spreading again disgusts me as much. I fear for a lot of my students and coworkers.

Ugh...

It's fine, liberals will just slap a fresh "C03X1ST" bumper sticker on the back of their EV and all will be well.
From what I’ve seen, it’s more likely they’ll find some random TikTok of an Israeli doing something Islamophobic to justify their actions.

Gaza before and after bombings.

The UN has said that 42% of all housing units have been rendered uninhabitable in the past three weeks, with thousands more subject to moderate damage.

The destruction has increased the number of displaced people in Gaza, with the UN and Palestinian Red Crescent estimating that between 400,000 and a million Palestinians are now homeless.

I'm gonna say something...and don't take this lightly so please don't dismiss it because of who I am:

I don't feel safe anymore admitting I am Jewish. The very people I fight for daily are now actively saying the very dog whistle antisemitic crap that we nail the RWNJs for. American Liberals saying Israel needs to be pushed into the sea, burning Israeli Flags, calling even Two State Solution Jews who despise Bibi as evil oppressors. College students flirting with Anti-Zionist comments that are Q like...and this in some of the most liberal places in our country.

There is no hyperbole behind this...I'm starting to get really scared and sad. The people I love the most now actively hate me and we have seen this dance before.

I don't want sympathy just make sure you understand how Jews feel...

The world is getting to be a very scary place for jews

I assume that’s about the airport in Russia, link doesn’t open anything for me.

So much for “Go back to where you came from, excluding Israel of course.”

The optimist in me hopes that that's someone who just wants to talk shit online rather than anyone who would actually do anything. But a threat is a threat and you still need to get punished to the fully extent regardless.

If you go to Xitter and take a peek at @AnnieSun16, she has posted the threats that were directed at the Jewish students at Cornell.

Here is some reporting.

He seems nice.

Threats were posted to Cornell’s Greekrank forums on Saturday, Oct. 28 and Sunday, Oct. 29

Radicalized Islamofascist frat boys? Cornell Review editors thirsty for relevance?

Let's just say whoever posted these should be identified and punished to the full extent of the law, whatever their motives.

I found this post both sad and sobering. I have come to trust Handy's posts as candid and most often on-point.

One question, which in no way detracts from my response to his message. Why use the word "admit" you are Jewish? I know there is a significant amount of cultural stereotype baggage associated with Jewish "guilt" that has been part of Jewish angst (annihilation anxiety?) and even humor for a long time, but I thought I'd ask. I have friends and inlaws who are Jewish, but I'm hayseed ignorant.

I would be shocked and proud of Israelis if they were the first people in history to resist the vicious stupidity of war fever.

After I asked the open question of whether this impending war would galvanize Israelis/Jews around Bibi and his government, Handy and another poster or two said this might actually have the opposite effect. It appears that so far, they are correct:

Not taking responsibility and blaming the military and intelligence service? He's trying to take a page from the Trump playbook. The difference being that far fewer Israelis are dumb enough for fall for it.
