Going on SM and seeing the amount of antisemitic stories the last few days is hurting my soul. (Islamophobia too btw) The projections on buildings at GW, the stabbing in California, people yelling at Jews on the street...this is bad. And the majority is not coming from The Right its Leftists pretending to care about Palestinians as a justification to hate Jews. (The Right pretends to care about Jews as a justification to hate Muslims)

You can feel something bad is close...

You don't have to wonder...everyone knows.

If the world wants to know why there isn't two states Israel isn't the culprit. Israel is guilty of so many other things (guilty isn't even the right word...what is beyond guilty Trumpian?) and deserves the majority of the criticism it gets but when it comes to the question "Why is there not a Palestinian State" they are the wrong answer. The right answers are Jordan, Egypt and Hamas/Arafats PLO. Jordan blocked the West Bank from being part of the Free State of Palestine until they lost it in the Six Day War, Egypt gave them almost no autonomy in Gaza (they had a provisional style government but Egypt was in control) until that was also lost in the Six Day War and the PLO walked multiple times after the Oslo Accords when Israel was giving them back 99% of what was originally agreed upon. Hell, in 1948 it was the Arab World that blocked the creation of the Palestinian State alongside the creation of Israel and decided to invade instead. (including the Peoples who are now considered Palestinian) When Hamas gained control of Gaza they made it their mission to never have a real peace because to them Israel is not a legitimate state.

To think, in 1993 Israel recognized the PLO as the ruling party of Palestine and Palestine recognized Israel's right to exist and denounced terrorism. 3 years later it was all dead. Phucking tragic. Now innocent people are just being killed so a bunch of small dicked azzholes can put forth their political agendas.
 
I'm gonna say something...and don't take this lightly so please don't dismiss it because of who I am:

I don't feel safe anymore admitting I am Jewish. The very people I fight for daily are now actively saying the very dog whistle antisemitic crap that we nail the RWNJs for. American Liberals saying Israel needs to be pushed into the sea, burning Israeli Flags, calling even Two State Solution Jews who despise Bibi as evil oppressors. College students flirting with Anti-Zionist comments that are Q like...and this in some of the most liberal places in our country.

There is no hyperbole behind this...I'm starting to get really scared and sad. The people I love the most now actively hate me and we have seen this dance before.

I don't want sympathy just make sure you understand how Jews feel...

You’re not alone. The wife is considering taking the mezuzahs down. I have a very “don’t let the terrorists win” mentality about such things, but with a little one in the house I can’t say I’m completely immune from the fearful thoughts crossing my mind.

Many non-Jews get it. Non-whites get it, atheists get it, non-straights get it. I live in Virginia and do not display any public sign that I am pro-choice, an LGBT ally, or even a Democrat, so, even I get it.

There is a difference between voting and marching and speaking strongly in a place where you can react, and setting yourself up to be surprised and harmed by a conservative coward who creeps up from behind.

Maybe (although it's more likely Tankies than Liberals), but even more Americans Liberals are saying it's okay for Israel to butcher Palestinian babies because Hamas butchered Israeli babies. Liberals aren't anti-Semitic, that's conservatives. Liberals are just incapable of nuanced thinking.

It is bad that there are places here where you could be attacked for displaying an Israeli flag. But there are a lot more places where you could be attacked for displaying an Arab flag, and half the media, political structure, and law enforcement would justify it.

You and your family should never be afraid, and I am very sympathetic. Nobody should have to be afraid.

i wish everyone would stop giving their takes on this- and by that I mean any kind of celebrity. This is so nuanced and a lot of white liberals are gonna be shocked pikachu face like the Michigan town when they realize that fundie Muslims are every bit as horrifying as the Christian ones. Hamas and the terrorists want to wipe out all the Jews, not have their own state.

A lot of the jew hatred boils down to ancient religious lore correct? God I hate the insecure twats who created those fake books

side note- the kids who tried to hold Betty mccolums staff hostage at her St. Paul office last night are the kinds of asshats who are gonna veer into antisemitism real soon.

Agree with the bolded. The normally-open-minded people I know on the far left are almost uniformly (bot not fully) in full throated dog-whistle-anti-Jew mode. Saying poorly concealed things that would make a MAGA chud like chuck blush.

That surprises me. There used to be a certain type of Soviet Leftist who was anti-Semitic, and there are still some dead enders on reddit like that. And the African and Arab "Left" is anti-Semitic if you want to call authoritarians who read Lenin as liberationist ideology Leftists (I mean, they certainly aren't the Right, so by process of elimination...).

But most of the Left is solidly "don't murder people." They're against Hamas and they're against Likud. They understand why Palestinians are angry and radicalized, but they also understand why Israelis are angry and radicalized. The situation from the POV of the Left is that rich, autocratic interests on both sides are sending poor sap soldiers to kill poor sap civilians. Bibi and his thugs are Putin, but the Hamas leadership actually live in luxury hotels in Qatar like Russian oligarchs.

The Leftist solution is for the populations of Israel and Gaza to arrest their leaders and send them to the World Court.
 
I'm in shock as well. I'm just so disappointed in everything surrounding this crap I don't even know what to say, or where I'm supposed to be at.
