Gaza 2023: The Next Episode

IDF is claiming it was a misfiring Islamic Jihad rocket. But IDF has also lied before.

"The first casualty of war is truth. \_(ツ)_/ " -- Aeschylus

IDF would not deny though...they would defend it and even applaud it.

If Biden is saying it was Islamic Jihad that means his intelligence people are saying it. They have biases though...

I question whether the terrorist groups have something powerful enough to do that much damage.

You obviously haven't been paying attention. Which is not surprising since you make yourself a self anointed expert on something you know nothing about.

Hamas has modernized their missiles exponentially in the recent years, thanks to Iran. They have some very powerful weapons. Hezbollah is even worse, in that the stuff they are firing at Israel has caught Israel completely off guard. Mainly, they are sophisticated enough to avoid the Iron Dome.

So now there are multiple images, from multiple sources, showing the hospital is still standing. Not destroyed. No blast crater. No rubble. A burned-out parking lot.

... was this just a propaganda campaign? Honestly as gross as that is, I'd prefer that to the idea that a god damned hospital was bombed.

It's disheartening to me that people I respect on a lot of topics... Are acting on blind emotion when it comes to this conflict. I understand why but it's sad when they can't maintain their objectivity and get mad at people who just don't blindly believe what the IDF says

Al Jazeera running with the Israel headlines has been super helpful I’m sure

But there is media there...openly talking about it. The building appears to be up but it was definitely hit. CNN has a picture from the parking lot:

The hospital was definitely hit.

I agree...but I think Hamas is 100% the cause of this along with what is being seen as open Antisemitism by a certain segment of the Leftist Community. As long as Hamas has civilian hostages (and is hiding amongst the Gaza Citizens) there is no real way to separate the two especially when the leaders of the Palestinian Authority are outright lying about certain things and trying to justify the actions. (badly...so very badly) Throw in a lot of college nimrods blaming Israel for what happened publicly within 24 hours of the attack and it just draws a line in the sand for a lot of people.

It annoys the heck out of me too because a lot of the "Pro-Israel" sentiment isn't exactly "Pro-Jew" is is just based on Islamophobia or just the bloodlust that goes along with being a warhawk. I mean doesn't it seem odd that people were so adamant that we never have boots on the ground in Ukraine but don't seem to have any issue with 2 carriers now in the ME? I am all for protecting our allies and Israel is in a very precarious spot but there would be some severe backlash if this was anywhere else.

Neither side is above criticism...but one is definitely the worse actor in this case.

And therein lies (or, as Lauren Boebert would say, "there enlies") the issue. Even that image isn't exactly dispositive of anything.

Yeah there's a lot of disinformation coming from all sides on this one as you expect in war...
What was annoying and disheartening for me was people going hey wait a minute let's get confirmation before we blame one side or the other and it was quotes along the line of if you don't believe Israel you believe the terrorists and that doesn't help anybody.
Or the attacks on Tlaib (and yes she was wrong herself for blindly blaming Israel) for tweets or for having the Palestinian flag outside of her office when she is of Palestinian descent... But completely praising anybody who had an Israeli flag outside.
Just seems like a lot of people can't separate that all Palestinians are not terrorists... And that not all Israeli moves are good.
I mean I've seen more than one person say that Israel would never attack civilians and you can't say that... It's just so much fear and so much hatred and it's all based on emotion and it seems that A lot of people are not able to keep rational thought and you're going to start to lose people who believe you on or agree with you on other subjects when you go completely lizard brain so to speak on this conflict.

I mean the building is pretty much a skeleton and there are pictures of the building on fire after the attack so I mean it seems a bit pedantic.

Young Turks had a segment last night where they claimed IDF originally took credit for "eliminating a terrorist presence in a public building," but after the blowback from the footage they took it down and deleted all references to it.

I have no idea whether that is credible. Both Hamas and the Israeli government just straight up lie to reinforce their aims, so we won't know until there is a proper independent investigation, and by the time it is safe enough to conduct one the evidence will be long gone. We will never know.

I think calling the hospital a "skeleton" is a bit aggressive. I take the word of neither Hamas nor the IDF on this. But Hamas had death counts like 4 seconds after the blast(s), so that seems awful quick.

For what it's worth, which may or may not be much, the US NSC thinks it was not caused by the Israelis.

But the fact remains, innocent people are being murdered.

Israel will definitely attack civilians...its why people believed they bombed the hospital. Its also why I believe they didn't because they have no issue with admitting to actions that lead to civilian death because they are arrogant and think they are righteous. Bibi is Dubya without the cocaine...

And while Tlaib should have no said what she said, anyone who gets bent out of shape over the Palestinian Flag can eat a bag of dicks. She should support her people and remind the world that while Hamas may control Gaza plenty of Palestinians hate them. Same as how Bibi controls Israel but doesn't speak for all Israelis or Jews. People are so lazy...and way too prone to just get tunnel vision.

Israel is not some virginal babe in the woods...they have committed plenty of horrific crimes against the Palestinians over the years in the name of "protection" so when Blinken or Bibi use that as an excuse for their response I roll my eyes. The problem is, this was not some rocket shot from Gaza or a suicide bomber...this time their response is somewhat proportional. But make no mistake Bibi will kill every Palestinian if he has too, he hates them as much as Hamas hates Israel.

I renew my calls for him to walk next to open windows in Moscow...

I think... I agree with this post. The only "good guys" are the victims. Fuck both governments.

Welcome to the last 5,000 years in the Middle East. Seriously, that region has been nothing but emotional and religious fervor. Which is why it never stops.

Another thing I can't believe is being"asked" by people in this...
If you weren't calling for a ceasefire in 2001 when the target was Al Qaeda... Why are you now when the target is Hamas?

With some adding the be honest line after it...as though they're trying to bait people into being anti-Semitic...
Thankfully most people are responding with because it didn't work so why try it now when all it really did was give rise to things like ISIS.

It simply because it's all religious based as to why some people can't be rational about it?
