Gaza 2023: The Next Episode

I agree...but I think Hamas is 100% the cause of this along with what is being seen as open Antisemitism by a certain segment of the Leftist Community.

How much of the coddling toward the culpability of Hamas would you say is the result of antisemetism vs. simple blind ignorance about the complexities of what's led to the current state of affairs or other reasons? There are so many moving parts related to not only the conflict itself but also in how we interpret the information we receive. You yourself admitted that, "Israel will definitely attack civilians" which is one sure way to muddle perspective as the conflict continues. You're absolutely right that Hamas is 100% the initiator, after that...?

It depends. In Europe it is almost all Antisemitism and most of what I saw on SM the first day or so was probably evenly split. The farther away we get from the initial attack though the more it is about Israel's actions than anything else.

Has the BBC (or half the Western Media) apologized for being the main culprit in spreading disinformation on the hospital attack? Funny now they feel the need to verify...what the word of terrorists isn't trustworthy anymore? It was the other day...

Good thing they don't have audio of terrorists literally discussing how IJ did it...BBC might look foolish then.

No harm no foul though everything is fine Egypt and Jordan have zero unrest over this.

The Brits phuck everything up.

Fair enough.

IIRC, lots of Turks live in and around Neukoelln, and it's also a hipster hood. So unauthorized Pro-Palestine events there would not be a huge surprise, really.

A troll? On this particular subject?

Yes, she will always find a way to vociferously defend Palestine and the actions of its people, no matter what. Or a way to deflect all criticism and blame to Israel. Her biases are not at all hidden, nor are they surprising given her heritage and the large Muslim population her district serves.

She also just loves to throw bombs, and unlike AOC and other members of The Squad, she has not learned to pick her spots well. Whatever she said on this issue was going to inflame some people, and instead she took it to the level of inflaming the greatest number of people possible with the language she chose.

Going to just have to generally disagree on this one. The only thing I’ve seen her write/say that can be construed as inflammatory is that she immediately accused Israel of bombing the hospital without evidence. And, as of yet, hasn’t apologized, but I’m not going to ask her to do so. Not my place, nor is the evidence 100%. I think Kepler said it’s possible we’ll likely never know, and I’ll agree with him at this point in time.
Given that Tlaib is the only Palestinian-American in Congress, with family living in Israel, I think saying she’s “trolling” when she has way, way more skin in the game than most, if not all lawmakers, and definitely you and I in this situation, is a mischaracterization. This has to be one of the issues she’s most passionate about, if not the most passionate about, and watching white d-chebag guys like Josh Gottheimer (albeit, from a Jewish family) denounce her and tell her to shut the f-ck up feels like someone telling Black people to shut the f-ck up during the Civil Rights Movement. I fully understand Biden supporting Israel, as Hamas is a terrorist group (Tlaib has denounced them too) and this was an evil, heinous attack, but I can fully understand why Tlaib feels slighted by some of Biden’s actions during this crisis. As has been said ad nauseum, being Palestinian does not equal support for Hamas, just like being Israeli or Jewish does not equal support of Bibi and his horrendously anti-Palestinian government, so Biden making statements like “the other side” caused the hospital bombing seems ishy, even to me.
A respectful disagreement, but I definitely support and empathize with Tlaib during this rough time for her people. I find her to generally be an excellent representative for her district, whether she chooses to measure her public statements or not.

Lots? Yeah that’s an understatement. kreuzberg used to be their hq, although they really are all over the city. I imagine it still may be

Leave Bari Weiss alone! (The Israeli equivalent.)

(I have no idea who you are talking about, but I assume it's our MPS holla girl.)

It's time to play Texas or Tel Aviv?

Notice, these protests are in support of Gaza, not Hamas. Say the quiet part out loud, officer.

Everywhere, from Yemen to Yeshiva to Y'all Qaeda, the Right is the same disease.

On the other hand, if you are a principled individual, you should probably stay out of politics, or at least stay away from the politics of a Great Power.

My wife and I have the same talks with each other. She at least works for the folks who are allegedly holding the Nazis in our government to account (insofar as they are able). But we are both complicit. So, do you stay and be part of the supply train to the camps, or do you flounce, knowing the next person will be a full-throated armband-wearing supporter, and at minimum a Zyklon-B sales rep?

Disentangling the hospital bombing.

BLUF: the IDF is lying, but that doesn't mean they did it. It just means they rushed to get a story out for western media consumption blaming Islamic Jihad, and that story is unsupported by the facts, but at the same time there's no dispositive evidence it was them either.

There is, however, this:

Posts on X sent by Hananya Naftali, a digital aide to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, also aroused suspicion. “Israeli Air Force struck a Hamas terrorist base inside a hospital in Gaza,” he wrote, but the post was almost immediately deleted.

By 10.58pm, Naftali apologised on X for sharing “a Reuters report” that “falsely stated Israel struck the hospital”. He said he had since deleted the tweet. “As the [Israeli army] does not bomb hospitals, I assumed Israel was targeting one of the Hamas bases in Gaza,” he added.

Whoopsie!

"Once the rockets go up who cares where they come down?"

An Israeli airstrike hit the grounds of the historic Saint Porphyrius Greek Orthodox Church in Gaza City, which was sheltering displaced people, on Thursday night, according to church officials and witnesses.

The church compound, comprising a chapel, seven buildings and a courtyard, was full of Christian families from the Gaza Strip, witnesses said. They said the airstrike happened around 7:30 p.m., when dinner was being distributed.

Videos and images from the scene showed rescuers digging through rubble, working with flashlights late Thursday and into Friday. The chapel was not struck.

The Gazan health ministry, which is controlled by Hamas, said at least 16 people were killed and many others were still buried under rubble. The death toll could not be independently confirmed.

Biden Announces He Has Secured Pinky Promise From Hamas Not To Use $100 Million For Terrorism | Babylon Bee

WASHINGTON, D.C. — After authorizing $100 million dollars for humanitarian aid in Gaza, President Biden assured Israel and other allies that he has received a pinky promise from Hamas that they won't use the money for terrorism.

"That's the strongest promise there is," Biden reminded reporters who questioned him on the matter. "They even put sugar on top and said 'Cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye.' There is no stronger guarantee that this money will be put to good use helping innocent Palestinians instead of making homemade rockets to murder people with. It's all ok, folks!"

Biden then tripped on a nearby sandbag and broke 23 bones, forcing him to call a lid for the day.

"We thank The Great Satan for this gift of millions of American dollars," said Hamas spokesperson Muhammad Muhammad Al Muhammad. "We will get right to work buying, um, bandaids, and water, um, and whatever else our people need to stay alive, even though we all want to die as martyrs for Allah while killing Jews. We definitely won't buy $100 million worth of rockets. No way. Pinky promise."

At publishing time, sources had confirmed another $100 million worth of rockets were traveling toward Tel Aviv.

I swear every phuck on both sides is pretending this is a video game and none of these lives are real. The lack of regard for human life is disgusting.

(war is stupid)
