Gaza 2023: The Next Episode

Yes, I’m talking to the ones chanting ages-old antisemitic cheers and ripping pictures of hostages down.

It doesn’t seem like there are as many of these people that can make the distinction as I’d like, but wouldn’t doubt that the media wants me to feel that way.

Yeah, those people suck.

I still think the blowback for a couple R9X missiles through the car roofs of the Hamas leaders in Qatar would be orders of magnitude less than what's happening now.

The Gaza death toll will top 10,000 by the weekend.

Looks like the Israelis have decided on an... ultimate answer?

Google tells me there are somewhere between 5-7 million Palestinians living in the area (depending on how you define "area"). I know you aren't callously calling this a genocide, but I've seen that all over and it's ridiculous. This is not a genocide, or anything remotely close to one. (which is good, I guess, albeit "this isn't genocide" is a pretty damn low bar)

Not to excuse what the IDF is doing, mind you. It's unconscionable. It's horrible. It's all the bad things. And, maybe even more frustratingly, it's completely counter productive.

This whole situation sucks. I don't even care who started it. Stop killing people.

Then you havent paid attention any of the other times this has happened. The only reason the world didn't turn on Israel faster this time is because of the hostages. Otherwise, by day 2 all of Europe and half this country would have been spitting on Israel and saying they have no right to act accordingly. (you are correct in that this time it is at an 11 but the hate and protests would still be there and the media especially would be amplifying Pro Palestine stuff) Hamas and other groups like Hezbollah knows this and that is why they play the game the way they do. They are begging for a ceasefire, they will violate it within a day or two and then the entire West and the UN will tell Israel to stand down and if they don't condemn them for it...

Look at the protests at NYU and you will see what this is all really about it. The Pro-Palestine group of students (not all of whom have "White Guilt" sadly) aren't asking for a ceasefire or peace...they are literally chanting they want one state...and that state aint Israel. People in Paris are painting Stars of David on Jewish schools, a Jewish Cemetery in Vienna had its prayer room burned and swatzikas painted on it. An Asian engineer at Cornell is being federally charged for threatening the Jews on campus and calling for violence against them by others. (all the Ivys are having these issues as is Stanford and MIT not exactly the Berkleys of the world) That isn't because Israel bombed Gaza and is acting like d-bags (and make no mistake, Bibi should be ousted and taken to the Hague) it is because they don't have to hide their feelings anymore. History is riddled with this stuff it is nothing new. This is the same playbook Antisemites have been using since about the 5th Century.

Put it this way...most American Jews want a ceasefire and peace. They want a two state solution. Hell one interrupted Biden yesterday begging for it. They have protests at the WH, they speak of Hamas and Palestine as two different entities. (obviously there is some that think otherwise but not anywhere close to the majority and most of them would hate me as much as they hate Palestinians) We don't call for boycotts of Muslim businesses, we don't want Palestinians to be singled out, we don't want Israel to kill innocents. Meanwhile the violence and destruction being brought to Jews way outside the ME is being justified by Pro-Palestinians because of the actions of Israel because somehow we are all responsible for the actions of people we have no affiliation with in a country thousands of miles away. That is like blaming random Catholics at CDH for the Church covering up child abuse...how are they responsible? Then in the same breathe we are told not to judge Palestinians by Hamas. Want to know why that is? Because one of the most recycled tropes used against Jews back in the day, long before Israel was even a thing let alone Palestine, is to make the Jews seem loyal only to each other and not the community they live in. Easy way to lowkey spread hate is to question loyalty and much of the modern world has been doing that to since before the time of Christ. Now it is so ingrained Jews might as well be Black Motorists driving in The South and the rest of the world is every cop. Omar still hasn't won back the Jewish Community for trafficking in some of those old tropes and I am not even sure she meant to do it. That is how much it is part of just everyday thinking. It literally dates back to Rome and the time of Judea. (actually might even be earlier that is just as far back as I know it was used)

This war isn't causing the hate...the war is just justifying it.

White guilt is a common tactic used by Palestinian supporters.

Their favorite here is to make it sound similar to the way Native Americans were treated. Ya know, the White European colonizers coming in and forcing the poor, helpless Palestinians off their land that they had held for centuries. Just, no comments about how the Palestinians acquired the land themselves…

I was talking to my SO about this...and she always seems to call Israel "White" and Palestine "Brown". I then remind her that she always talks about how Jesus was not White and then ask where Jesus was from. Then I tell her look at pictures of Israelis and tell me how they are "White" exactly.

Its a weird cognitive dissonance.

What's the source? Because most of those numbers seem based on Hamas figures...you know the terrorists.

Keep in mind...1 death is too many. I am just saying I trust Hamas as much as I trust Putin.

I feel the same, but considering the scale of IDF action and Gaza being so densely populated, I'm honestly surprised the death toll isn't substantially higher.

Yeah...it's disgusting.

The only ones winning are Hamas. Leadership isn't in Gaza most of the time and is hoarding fuel, cash, supplies and weapons even now. They are pulling the old Arafat scam while the people who trust them are being killed over their actions.

Gaza’s Ministry of Health. Palestinian Authority, not Hamas.

I always tell my Christian friends that genetically Jesus probably most resembled a young Yasir Arafat.

Yeah. From the little I know, and it's little, they're separate, or, at least, only slightly tainted by Hamas. This article helped me, although I read one somewhere else citing much of the same stuff.

AJ is attempting to track every Gaza death.

Shoot Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, and Likud into the sun.

Every hour in Gaza:
  • 15 people are killed - 6 are children
  • 35 people are injured
I'm not saying people can't support the IDF effort, on balance, based on their values. Many do, just as some Palestinians support liberation by violence, following the logic of Jewish terrorists that brought Israel into being. But don't hide from the enormity of the murders. A dead Palestinian child is equal to a dead Israeli child. And the person who directly killed them is the person who used the weapon. There is no hiding from the guilt of murder. A state sanction is only an excuse, not a moral claim.
