Travel 4: All Around the World Same Song

Is it a good idea to visit Rome in winter? Any recommendations on places to see/stay, etc.? Cheers!
Is it necessary to buy pantheon tickets and entrances to the famous attractions far in advance, or is it not necessary?
I would also truly appreciate it if you have some hotel/restaurant/bar recommendations in Rome.
Cheers, guys!

Winter yah… there is a stillers bar. Go watch them lose and suffer with the owner and patrons:(

11 days in Spain in October. Flying in and out of Madrid. Going to be focusing on Madrid, Sevilla, and Grenada. We already did a quick trip in Barcelona during an earlier trip, and while we still have lots to see there we didn't want to spread this trip too thin. And we plan to do Basque country later, same idea, want to focus on a few places rather than spread too thin. Since we fly in/out of Madrid, figure we'll do some Madrid at the beginning and some at the end, and then a few days in Sevilla and then a few days in Granada in between. A day trip to Toledo from Madrid and a day trip to Cordoba from Sevilla; though some people say it's worth to do a night in Toledo, but I also want to minimize hotel changes, so I've found from other trips that day trips help there.

Anyone have recommendations for Nashville in late October? My wife and I have a friend who's been nominated for a Josie Award, so we're going to support her and also to see the Grand Ole Opry, where the award ceremony will take place. We're staying afterward for a total of 5 days, so we'll need other things to do. I'm generally aware of the most popular neighborhoods, activities, and attractions, so I'm hoping more for recommendations that tourists tend to overlook. We will not have a rental car and will simply use rideshares to get around.

Just booked our 5-day trip to Seoul next month to visit the youngest who's taking his fall semester at a university there!!

Next is trying to finalize our annual Christmas/New Year's trek to Thailand.

If I never have to book another flight, shuttle service or hotel...

Finally fully booked:

Wife and I - Philippines to Seoul and back, and then Philippines to Bangkok and back
Kid 1 - Minnesota to Philippines, Philippines to Bangkok, Bangkok to Minn
Kid 2 - Minnesota to Seoul, Seoul to Philippines, Philippines to Bangkok, Bangkok to Seoul, Seoul to Minn

What's left you say?

Book trips to Chiang Mai and Koh Samui whilst in Thailand.

Where in??

Well we spent 4 days in Edinburgh (with a day trip to England to check out Alnwick Castle, then drove to Perth and Inverness, followed by Loch Ness and the Isle of Skye, then drove back to Stirling and finally back to Edinburgh to fly home. It was a blast! (and the driving was easy for the most part)

Off topic but my rental car was a Polestar 2 EV...that will be my next car. One of the best cars I have ever driven!

Hello from Canada!

Hello from my house!

I just got home today from visiting Itasca State Park for the first time ever. At 47yo, it’s pretty shameful for a Minnesotan.

For those not from around here, Lake Itasca is the headwaters of the Mississippi River. I now have pictures of my 4yo literally hopping from rock to rock as she made her way across the river. The riverbed is only 18” deep at this point, and maybe 15’ across.

If you’re not into cabin rentals, such as at the various cabin resorts, but like the state parks, then I would suggest renting a spot within Park Rapids and making the 20-30 minute drive to Itasca. I’d say no more than two nights would be necessary. Talking with the people who own the cabin resort where we stayed, week of July 4th and the last two weeks of August are their slowest weeks of the summer. We got lucky on the timing.
