Re: The polls - scratching KRACH, PWC, CoP and robbery! ...---...

Not often do we see a split decision for#1...got a feeling that we are in for a few more surprises in the coming weeks.
In the NCHA, watch out for LFC and maybe MSOE...both gaining momentum..

Re: The polls - scratching KRACH, PWC, CoP and robbery! ...---...

I find it interesting that a team like River Falls, who is absolutely reeling, can hold such a lofty spot in the poll?? After starting the season 11-0, they have won one hockey game in their last 6 (1-4-1) !!! Normally, that record is getting you a ticket out of the top 10.

Another bit of a surprise for me was Babson holding it's spot after going 1-1 on the weekend vs. Mass-Boston.

I have to say that the split makes a lot of sense. Norwich and SNC have very similar records and resumes. Both have two losses, one coming to a Top 10 team and the other coming to an unranked but gaining momentum team (Plattsburgh and Middlebury for Norwich, Stevens Point and MSOE for SNC). Both teams have tied teams that they should've beat (Concordia for NU, St. John's for SNC). As a Norwich fan, I couldn't blame anyone for putting SNC first. While NU does have 3 wins against top 10 opponents, the ECAC-E has yet to prove itself out of conference, so I don't know how far wins over Babson and UMB go in the eyes of the voters.

This happens every year to the Thunder Chickens. Nice to see some things never change.

Re: Ecac/w

Wow !! You're so right haulin oats....check out the flop jobs WRF has done in the second half of the season over the last several years !! Amazing consistency !

Re: The polls - scratching KRACH, PWC, CoP and robbery! ...---...

It isn't realistic to assume you can play well enough all season in the ECAC West to earn a pool c bid with all the other quality teams that are eligible. They need a seventh team!

No doormats in that conference anymore (let alone several perennial doormats to wipe one's feet upon for the better teams in most conferences), so the W teams just shred each other up in quest of a Pool-C bid more often than not... Fratricide.

Even when the W gets a bid, it's generally as a low seed, owing to a less-than-impressive W/L. Apples and oranges when compared to several other conferences, but it does make for very competitive games to watch.

It does not surprise me a bit reference the Thunder Chickens and their annual fall from grace during the second half of the season. Any Western poster has witnessed this for years. I believe that UWEC deserves the spot that River currently holds. The D3 poll is closer to what I believe is correct. Never look past UWEC when it comes to potential tournament time.

So I should transfer my optics from UWRF to UWEC?

There is no doubt in my mind that the W is the 7th strongest conference in D3 hockey this season. The level of play is just behind (in no particular order): NCHA, WIAC, MIAC, SUNYAC, ECAC-E, and NESCAC. I do agree that the level of play in the W is superior to the ECAC-NE and MASAC.

That's a ridiculous statement to make in the face of the objective data. Please be tell us all how you got there..?

Not bad. I'd have Amherst ahead of Oswego at this point, though, just on the basis of The Jeffs very similar win %, and their much better SOS ranking (2nd vs. 17th).

I'm predicting that Utica will host 2017 NCAA DIII Frigid Four :p
