RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

After tonight's display from Cortland's coach, I wonder if coaching doesn't have something to do with the losing. Their goaltending wasn't poor by any means, but they simply couldn't exit the zone, which is typical of a lot of games against RIT with the exception of the good teams in this league, aka Elmira and Plattsburgh, which do a great job of keeping RIT to the outside and transitioning quickly against our D.

Also, I feel it's fair to note that Maggie Giamo as a Freshman for us last year logged 12 points in 25 games, and is Cortland's leading point getter with 15 points in 21 games. Cortland has no offense to back up their capable goaltending, which is really hurting them. Which is really too bad.

I think Cortland's coach is a bit too unstable to properly motivate the team. Just the vibe I got his actions during the game. Which is also weird considering his rather lengthy resume.

We'll see what tonight brings. Don't get them too riled up we have a 2 game set with them next weekend in thier barn.

Haha, just don't heckle their goalie too much, her mom will come lecture you on unsportsmanlike conduct.

HAHAHA or the massive amounts of heckling will make her cry.and then she will thank you after a game :D

Congratulations are due to Scott McDonald for becoming the winningest coach in RIT women's hockey history.

Will the ECAC-West sanction Stack and Mazzetta for their misconduct penalties against Buffalo?

Hopefully they don't. Refs got the calls right on the ice. Mazzetta was protecting the goalie. And it appeared Stack said something to the Buffalo bench.

It will be interesting if the ECAC-W sanctions McMullan for running the RIT goalie in the first game. No call on the play from the refs but one of the dirtiest plays ever.

Just to clarify...It was Marrisa McMullan and not Alanna McMullen the Western Canadian product.

I noticed a number of penalties re: 2 minutes for contact to the head. Can we assume those were punches thrown and if that's the case things started to go off the rails in the 1st period.

No actually it started Friday when Buff State ran Torgerson.

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Yikes...hope she's alright. Checking the box score and don't see anything out of the ordinary in game # 1. Was there a penalty call?

Not even a penalty call. Those of us fans who traveled to be there were livid and so was coach. The Buff State player came in on net straight on, fired a shot, Torgerson went down and covered it, and the Buff State player didn't even try to stop, just ran her over at full speed. It was nasty and uncalled for.

From what I was told, she had to be taken to the hospital and is now in a neck brace. There were rumors she had to have surgery Friday night but I can't verify that for sure yet.

Game 1 was calm until that point. A bunch of us left before the 3rd to get back to RIT for the Air Force game, but the penalties last night were retaliation from Friday most likely and from what people at the game told us. I wouldn't expect to see any action by the ECAC beyond a stern talking to. If teams keep taking shots at RIT's players, things like this are going to keep happening.

Ya there's no room in the game for that! :(

The injury, while terrible and unfortunate, was the effect. Look behind your bench and his history for the cause. It's not all about his wins, or is it?
