RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

I did take a nice gander at the score sheet and if you look closely I only highlighted RIT penalties (except one potsdam that i didnt mean to). The point in all this is being a part of the penalties. They took 18penalties in a game. I understand that Potsdam took 16. RIT took 9 after they were up by at least three goals. CLASS AND COMPOSURE

RIT has had 15 games (excluding the first ex. game) where they beat the opponent at least once by 4 or more goals. And has 110 penalties.

Elmira has 12 games under the same criteria and has 65 penalties.

Platty has 16 games and has 56 penalties.

Now many of these games are against the same teams, obviously, same conference right. now the question that has been presented before and will be again: Why is only RIT having trouble with these teams while other teams don't seem to be?

I will admit you raise a valid point, even the fans hate all the penalties called. RIT does play a more physical brand of hockey and it usually leads to getting calls against them. I've seen about 3 women's hockey "fights", all included RIT because they were defending a teammate. All of the RIT players have each others backs. They will defend each other when they have too.

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Good to hear Torgeson is okay and back at practice, although I thought policy on a concussion was an automatic week off. Her mom has indicated she has had several concussions. That doesn't sound good. I hope she is careful about it.

Who gets the nod for the Potsdam game?

Several concussions? That's more than 3, correct? When is it too many.....I believe there are some jobs at risk if this kid has another head injury. Are the trainers allowing this or is it pressure from the coach? No way this goalie is ready to play this weekend. Remember, at RIT it's not how you play the game...it's if you win or not.

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Have you ever met the coach? If you have you'd know he lets the trainers/doctors decide about injuries, probably like all the other coaches out there.

I liked this thread a lot more when you were hiding under that rock you came from. Do you have red hair lonestar or any ties to RIT? You seem to think you know everything about this program.

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

well, seems the ladies did well with a nice victory.. i can't believe the shots on goal in 3rd period.. we had 20 and potsdam had 0 according to livestats.. thats one nice defensive effort. I don't recall ever seeing a team not have any SOG's at all in any 1 period.

Now it's on to SUNY Platty to take on Elmira, here's to hoping we have success against them..

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Final 5-0 RIT sog 46-8 RIT King played. Torgeson did not dress ... as was reported to me.

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

I am looking forward to seeing the games this Saturday. This could be my last chance to see RIT at the D3 level. I'll be listening to Ducky at Oswego and watching RIT/Elmira. Perhaps tweeting the game as well.

Just a quick FYI, RITfan......No, I don't have red hair although I understand what you are implying. Yes, I did have ties to RIT....but they are parental. And, finally, I had great respect for the previous coach and the classy way the program was run. Sorry you can't handle the truth.

Why does RIT want to go D1? They can't win it all at the D3 level. They are just an average team. Why would they want to jump to D1 and get spanked by just about everyone? Is it for financial reasons or do they figure with D1 scholarship money they can recruit who they think they need to make a semi decent showing at the
d1 level?

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Why does RIT want to go D1?

I think most schools that can have a DI program would prefer to. I don't think it is unreasonable for RIT to make the move.

When our men's team moved up they were 6-22-2 the first year. Since then they have been 85-47-11 and have won 3 regular season conference championships.

I could see them joining the CHA and finishing in 4th their first year.

RIT will not have any (athletic) scholarships even if the women's team is D1. Our men's team is currently D1 without any scholarships. We are considered a D3 school (as all of our sports except men's hockey are D3) and must follow D3 rules.

I would feel bad for their present team, as half of them would have released to make way for better players so they could be competitive. Right now, they would have a hard time competing competitively at DI with what they have.
