>>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

True. I just think that maybe RIT got lulled into a fall sense of security/sleep with only playing a handful of games against good teams (Norwich/Amherst) and came into Plattsburgh to play a team that had a major chip on their shoulder that needed a marquee win.

These series are more like war than anything else. Intensity is quickly ramped up whenever any of the big three in the ECAC West play each other. The reasonis that a loss either way could cost you dearly in the end.

BTW, the expression is "lulled into a false sense of security." ;)

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

While this isn't truly "news" in that we all knew it was coming, it's still noteworthy... In President Destler's email letter on Progress at RIT (sent out yesterday, I think), he stated that RIT intends to apply for Division I membership for the Women's Hockey team this year with the possibility of moving up in time for next season.
It's about time.

Now all the bickering in this thread about RIT's womans recruiting and the move (see page 2) can finally end.
Here's part of Destler's letter, word for word. They haven't officially posted it online (so you doubters still have something to hold on to), it was just sent out in a campus-wide email:

"RIT athletic teams are also making strong progress in moving RIT’s reputation forward. Our Division III teams now compete in the Liberty League against some of the finest private colleges and universities in the nation, including Hobart/William Smith, Union, St. Lawrence, RPI, Vassar, Skidmore, Bard, Clarkson, and the University of Rochester. Last Spring our men’s lacrosse team advanced to the NCAA Final Four, losing only one game all season. Our Division I men’s hockey team is once again near the top of the Atlantic Hockey Association standings and our Division III women’s team is, as I write this, undefeated and ranked no. 1 in the nation. This year we will apply to the NCAA to move our women’s team to Division I, a move that we anticipate could occur as early as next year.

Congratulations. :) I think though, most people that did the so called "bickering" were concerned about the "recruiting" part of your first sentence. After this season then, or maybe next, game on. :)

Here's a good picture of the "camo" jersey's the Ladies were wearing this weekend.
They looked great on the ice.

Game Recap

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

Thats counting t-shirt sales.

Kristina Moss' jersey went for $3,000.

So what's your point?

T-shirts were nice, and someone really likes Kristina Moss. The point was to raise money. They did that, no matter how you want to break it down.
Every jersey went over $215.

Are we really having this argument right now. I said I'd prefer darker camo then the numbers come out and you push your glasses up and snobbily say that*in best impression of Ron White being a snob* "Clearly people liked the camo because they raised over $11,000." */impression* I put the price of Moss' jersey out there so people that don't check that would know. Then you throw that in my face. Do you really have nothing better to do?

I don't wear glasses.

I don't wear glasses.

I mixed two different references together. The know-it-all nerd that has to correct you and the I'm-better-than-you snob. I felt they worked well together and complimented each other as well.

Guys, meet at the Ritz, grab a beer, kiss and make up. All is good!!

This is rich...I missed it first time around. So now we have the President at RIT recruiting by throwing around ficticious dates and innuendo about the D1 move. Well it could be this year...er maybe next year..oh wait maybe the year after...oh OK then we are only applying and it might not happen at all. Classy outfit your running up there in Rachacha...from the President on down.

Must admit, that's a bit of a head scratcher.

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

RIT will not own up to their intentions in moving to D1 when asked by ECAC West AD's about scheduling for next season. He is not saying yes OR no to commitments to the ECAC West. Many ECAC West schools are not scheduling RIT for next season and going on the assumption they are not in the league. Call the athletic office and ask simply if they are or are not un-equivocally in the ECAC West.

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

It's a travesty whats going on here and If anyone should be censured by the NCAA for blatant recruiting violations... it's this outfit.

The blurb was from an e-mail sent to anyone with an @rit.edu e-mail address. Wasn't published to any general website. It was internal that people on this board shared with the college hockey community.
