>>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

Our Tigers are #1 in the country, picking up 15 of 15 first place votes! http://www.uscho.com/rankings/d-iii-womens-poll/

Now we just gotta prove we deserve to be there, by holding serve at least until we play Platty in January.

The Canadian road trip over Thanksgiving weekend should be interesting... any idea the skill level of the teams we'll be playing?

Plattsburgh did a Canadian road trip at least once and I want to say Middlebury might have done one too at one point. The quality of the Canadian University teams that Plattsburgh played were on par with top D-III teams at the time. Plattsburgh won the NC in 2008 and went 2-1 on their Canadian swing with all three games being pretty close that season.

They also did it during the 2004-05 season when they went to the Frozen Four and lost all three games to Ottawa, McGill and another school.

RIT will certainly get four games against quality competition during this stretch that should only make them better down the road. Big pick-up for Coach McDonald on this one.

One of the teams you are playing are the Laurier Hawks. They will be a very formidable opponent. I suspect that one or two of the other three games will go in your favor.

Or, perhaps all four?

C'mon guys, we just beat four good Canadian teams, while Elmira and Platty are off getting blemishes on their records in the Birdy/Kitty Classic. These ladies are GOOD. When are they next on TV? =)

Just so you know, they're not that good...the Canadian teams that is. :)

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

A few people including someone on the team told me that Wilfrid Laurier was on par with Plattsburgh/Elmira.

Probably true yes, but the others..... notta. This is what I was referring to, when I was commenting on what the other poster said. No question though, RIT appears to be a good team. :)

I think the next time they are on TV is when the play Buff State in January. The 20th and 21st. I think this team could be better than last year even after losing the talent they did. Some of the freshmen are really good and contributing like last year's freshmen. Then add in the motivation from losing in the national championship game on home ice. Look out. The games against Platty should be real good this year.

You are correct. As of now, those are the only two games left that we are doing. However, every home game is on pirateradio.rit.edu.

Well, you inadvertently got me to come up with the RIT backwards moniker...TIR.....Team in Reverse. :D

This is a team that is anything but "in reverse". Lots going on around Ritter these days.

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

I am not sure its the FULL story, but it at least slightly confirms some of the rumors.

I thought of that right after I posted, I suppose I meant it explained his absence on Saturday, and confirmed for us that he is back this weekend.

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

"If you shut up, then I'll shut up, then I'll disappear for a bit, then I'll come back and no one will really know the difference." Sounds pretty standard to me for these "He did it--he said it--he said it--he did it" type of assault cases. Deal between the two. :)

Laurier was ranked in CIS, but the others were not. One interesting tidbit about the Canadian trip - Belina Hooper, who played the RIT two years ago but was dismissed from the team played for Brock against the Tigers.

Re: >>> RIT Tigers 2011-12 -- Now then, where were we? <<<

is RIT ever going D1?

Most likely in the next year or two. IMO, the school is waiting to see what happens with Hockey Easy. If HEA takes RPI or any other school from the ECAC then RIT will apply to the ECAC for both men and women, which the ECAC would like since all 12 schools in the conference now play both men and women's. Now if HEA goes with an non-ECAC school like Holy Cross or UConn and the men have to stay in the AHA for now, the women would most likely apply to the CHA. The CHA would be a good fit geographically and the men already play in the same league as current CHA members Mercyhurst, Robert Morris and Niagara. I believe that RIT has gotten assurances from the NCAA that they can move up, even if they are of the wink-wink, nudge-nudge variety. I think RIT is just waiting to see what happens on the men's side before making a decision for the women when there is no rush to do so. Plus they know the men's stuff will be cleared up in the next year so it is not even that long of a wait.
