Re: >>>>RIT Tigers 2010-2011<<<<
One day, a Panther is out hunting in unfamiliar territory when she sees a Tiger. Being small and faster she could run away, but she is in the tight confines of the Ritter woods and speed wouldn't help her since she doesn't know the lay of the land. So, she spies a pile of old bones and settles down with them with her back to the Tiger.
"Mmmmm, that Tiger tasted good," she loudly exclaims when she senses the Tiger stalking closer, "I wonder if there are any more of them around here?"
The Tiger stops in her tracks. "Phew, I thought I could pounce that Panther, but I'm glad I didn't leap too soon -- she would have eaten me like she did that other."
The Tiger slunk away.
Meanwhile, a young Cadet who had been watching both sides of the event, saw the ruse that the Panther had performed and followed the Tiger to share his information with her and gain her protection and good favor (until he was big enough to carry his own gun).
When the Tiger heard about the deception, she angrily commanded, "hop on my back, we'll go back to that sneaky Panther and show her not to fool with Tigers!"
As the Panther was gamely trying to make her way home through the unfamiliar territory, the Tiger and the Cadet caught up to her and she saw and heard them in the distance. When she saw the Cadet with the Tiger, she knew something was up, so instead of running, she settled down again with her back to the two of them as they approached and started to growl.
As they came within hearing distance, she announced, "where is that useless Cadet? I'm starving! I told him to bring me back another Tiger an hour ago."
The moral: Be wary of experienced Panthers, and don't trust everything you hear.
