Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

btw... for those following the google link... there are nearby pictures... unsure if any is of the building itself... I find some interesting irony that he was nearest to a "St Luke's" as opposed to a mosque. Must have chaffed the scumbag to know that Christians were nearby.

I hope the soldier that shot him (if the shot-in-the-head story is true) skull-*ed him. With video. And it was sent to every Al-Qaeda lair.

2:07 mark (with big Obama smile at 2:18) is pretty hilarious in hindsight.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

Over a thousand people have gathered at the World Trade Center site and the crowd is growing. They are singing and have already held a moment of silence for the 9/11 victims. This is totally spontaneous. I am watching the local news in NY.

This bastard was responsible for killing 35 former students or relatives of students from the high school I went to. He also killed 5 people in the town I currently live in. My nephew's best friend has never been heard from and there is no trace of his remains. He was working at his first job at Cantor Fitzgerald after graduating from college. Ten fireman in the firehouse that is next to my office were lost on 9/11. It is a great day for the U.S. now that this evil person has been erased.

Amen. We should remember the thousands of individuals and families whose lives have been forever changed simply because they were American.

Re: Osama bin Laden Declared Dead

One cousin joined the Navy in Aug 2001. 6 weeks boot camp, and then shipped off to Bahrain. That, he was able to tell us. 10 years in the navy, mostly spent "over there" (and that's all he could tell us). Another cousin was supposed to be in the area of the Pentagon that was targeted on 9-11. He got a call to go elsewhere, and wasn't at the Pentagon that day. We found out about that incident two days later. A friend who came back for another friend's wedding this past Aug had seen a couple of his squad killed in Afghanistan 2 days prior to his leave. In great detail, he told us the story of the assualt (to my surprise).

To say that I'm a little emotional right now would be a massive understatement.

Wills and Kate unexpectedly changed their honeymoon plans. Wonder if there's a connection.

A year after the attacks I was working for Genuity cold-calling businesses. I just had business names, contact names in some cases, and a phone number. I started calling numbers one day and kept getting busy signals and disconnects. An hour later I came across the name eSpeed, which was a subsidiary of Cantor and a place several people I knew worked. It was then I realized all the businesses I had been calling were in the World Trade Center. I was sick to my stomach. I rarely celebrate a person's demise but I'll make an exception in this case.

Believe me, you're not the only one. Not by a long shot. The subtext of this triumph, sent to Islamist thugs wherever they're hiding is: THERE'S MORE WHERE THAT CAME FROM.

We still yet to roll up... Zawahiri... like bin Laden, his significance is diminished due to the lack of capability of AQ-Pakistan. Zawahiri is as much of a leader as bin Laden but not the headliner.... Mullah Omar, Taliban leader.... his significance outside of the region is minor... inside the region pretty good.

I think neither have much capabilities in the west... I'd say former Fairfax, VA resident Awlaki is a bigger threat for that... but if they can roll up some of the others that'd be nice. Of course, I'd like them (the administration) to stop stonewalling the Hassan case. We'll see.

I know I'm not the only one, and that makes me proud. Very proud. There may be a lot of things wrong with this country, but it's the best goddam country on earth. And I'll do what it takes to make sure it stays like that. And I'll also have words (or worse) with any that attack it, to the best of my ability. Someone on another board said this was the counterweight of feelings compared to 9-11. He's right. I am feeling a feeling that I don't want to feel again (because of the cause) but this time it's a feeling that is good, not bad. However, because of the source making it to be a counterwieght, I still don't want to feel it ever again.
