Ohio State 22-23 Are we Better Than You Think?

I dont know how she is still at Ohio State really.

Coach Nadine is one of the highest paid coaches in the WCHA. With a couple of exceptions, the other schools in our league don't have the resources to poach her away from us. With the new facility on the way (finally), she will be here as long as she wants to be (hopefully until she decides to retire)!

As for Rohlik and the Ohio State Men, his recruiting is decent, he gets some big-time players (Georgi Merkulov from last year comes to mind), but we need more of them if we are going to compete for National Titles, which should be the goal of every coach at tOSU.

From what I was told Oz was not nice to any of the employees and the players hated him.

Lesson here is be nice to the little people. You never know when you'll need them, particularly if you're going to challenge your boss. Oz made it easy for someone with GS's political instincts to deflect the issue of support for the program and turn it, justifiably or not, into something else entirely.

True. If I remember correctly there was I believe a CCHA playoff game or something to that effect and the mens team got bumped from Schottenstein and had to play in the old ice arena...and I think that blew Oz's gasket. Haha.

Anywho...not to rehash old stories. Hopefully you guys get a favorable NCAA matchup and can make some noise. Hoping you beat MI tomorrow.

They had to play Ferris in the Ice Rink during the last year of the CCHA. They won that series then lost to Notre Dame at JLA he was then fired the following week.

Right from the first shift when McWard pinched and missed the puck causing that 4 on 2 and the goal they really never got to their game. Dobes didnt have a great night probably the worst game he has played at Ohio State. As dominate as Michigan was at times and they were dominate it was Portillio that made a few key saves with them up 3-1 4-2 and 5-3 that allowed Michigan to come down each time and score. Sitting at the game I thought man if they ever get this to 1 goal they were going to win it In reality they didnt play well enough to win. On to the Ncaa Tournament. I want them to drop to 10 to avoid Minnesota Region.

We were watching bits a pieces in the lobby of the OSU Ice Rink at the women's game. Why did our first goal get waived off? I think this team could do something in the NCAA Tournament, but they have to play 60 minutes. This team doesn't have the talent to take periods or shifts off.

First goal was waived off due to off-sides.

Big thing I've noticed in defending against MI is you absolutely cannot give them time and space. MI also males a ton of mostakes and plays a bit of firewagon hockey, and they know theu give up opportunities. Opposing teams have to take advantage. Similar to how PSU plays.

Dobes definitely can be streaky and it just looked like OSU didnt have a lot of energy.

The Bob Todd era was about the max for a cold weather school, and even then we never sniffed Omaha. The program has next to no chance of ever competing for a national championship. Yes, Michigan rode a heater a couple of years ago and ended up in the final, but that was a pure aberration. The next most recent cold weather school to make the final was Southern Illinois in 1971. The last cold weather school to win a NC was Thee Ohio State University in 1966. I don't begrudge the baseball park. I'm happy for the program That being said, it's still criminal that men's hockey--which can potentially win a national championship--doesn't have a proper facility.

And as someone who works with the OSU Foundation and its Chicago office, I can tell you that private funds in large part are very much steered to where the university (or athletic department) put its priorities. If a men's hockey arena was a priority, the private fundraising dollars would appear.

Actually the last "Cold weather" team to make CWS Final before Michigan in 2019 was Eastern Michigan in 1976! Lost to Arizona in Final.

three of michigans goals were directly from time and space you talked about and in the 2 wins ohio state had they did a great job of taking that away. You cant allow them to get into the transition game they want.

It was offsides happened right in front of me I thought it was live and knew once Michigan challenged it the goal was coming back. I think this team has a chance to win a game for sure. I just hope they dont get put with Minnesota and right now they are #9 so by bracket integrity they are in that region.

Oregon State has won three National Titles (2006, 2007, 2018) so I don't buy the cold weather excuse. Some have said to me in the past, "Well, Oregon is not really a northern state." I call bullshit on that as I have friends who live in Oregon. They get snow and cold temperatures just like we do here in Ohio, so anyone who says Oregon is not a northern state is just full of shit. Hell, Kent State has been to a CWS more recently than Ohio State (2012). Not trying to start a debate here as this is a hockey forum, but just sick of the cold weather excuse. Michigan has been to the CWS eight times and won two National Titles. Hope our new coach doesn't buy into that stuff. With our resources and facilities, Ohio State Baseball should be competing for National Titles just like any other school. It's inexcusable that they haven't been in the mix lately.

Average February temperature in Corvallis is 53 degrees with an average low of 37. Columbus is 40/22. Ohio State will 0lay 14 games before they finally have a home game. Oregon State will play 4.

Michigan's two titles are even older than our last one. No cold weather school has won a NC in almost 60 years.

Looks like they are locked into the 9 seed. There is a chance if Minnesota loses and Quinnipiac wins ECAC then they will be #1. I want to avoid Minnesota at all cost but Im not sure if that is going to happen.

Agree. Hahvahd is littered with NHL draft picks, so they're definitely talented. I don't think they're the first or second round picks that we've dealt with against Minnesota and Michigan though. Being in a bracket with the Gophers and St Cloud would have been death. Pairwise be damned, I think Qpac is the weakest one seed, and Hahvahd can be beat. I couldn't be happier with our placement.

I about jumped out of my seat when I saw the Fargo bracket and Ohio State wasnt in it.
