New Poll Predictions for 11/30

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/30

Fixed your post:

I like this logic - really do.
Remaining games vs currently ranked teams:
Oswego: Plattsburgh, Adrian
Plattsburgh: @Oswego, @Norwich, @Elmira, @Middlebury

Oh and what about these guys?
Salem St.
St. Norbert (3) win on the road 3-0
St. Scholastica (6) lost in their barn in OT.
Remaining games against ranked teams -- @NEC(rv)

What we have here is BCS. If the pollsters perceive you as a hot thit team at the start of the season, you stay a hot thit team until you thit the bed. But if you are perceived to be a thit team, tough thit.

If you think this is a case to get SSC in the top 15, no it is not. I can use figgers and logik to make team in the current poll look good. Stout had a bad weekend (well, a REALLY bad weekend) while Salem had a pretty good one. As others have have pointed out, all this poll does is say "What have you done for me lately".

The only poll that counts is the one that is released by the NCAA on 3/7/10 showing the top 11 - which gives me a name for the D3 championship. Off to that thread.....:)

And to Ryan, prepare to "take me out back and shoot me": if you were at the Plattsburgh game, Oswego was outplayed in that game. Oswego won the game against a goaltender playing his second varsity game. Do I think Plattsburgh is the #1 team in the country? I don't know...but since I come at it from a Cardinal perspective (and can admit it) and you come at it with green and gold colored glasses, maybe we aren't the most objective folks to make that call...

This is great fun and very entertaining. I am amazed at the excuses flying around on this board. One thing for certain, Platty fan can't stand sharing a number one with Oswego! It just eats you guys up!:D

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/30

Thank You Steve! I can't wait to play Oswago on the bigger ice...1-9-1 obviously you're going to get lucky eventually.... Jk

I'm a Plattsburgh fan, and I'm perfectly fine sharing the #1 ranking with Oswego. I just wish it could be like this when the Cardinals make the trip out to Oz... the rivalry has never been more tense (and nationally significant*)! Assuming both teams run the table until that point, I would definitely enjoy watching the Cardinals take that #1 ranking from the Lakers in Campus center (what was the record between the 2 teams in that particular arena, again?)

*Note that I am not considering the 1987 Nation Championship to be "Nationally Significant", because its significance was erased by the NCAA Committee on Infractions

Actually, I don't have a problem sharing it with Oswego. I'm not sure either team is #1 right now. My point was the Oswego fan that just knows Oswego is the best team on the planet (at the very least, much better than Plattsburgh) and wanted to take any fan that disputes his claim "out back and shot". For those that weren't at the game, Oswego was ahead 3-2 late in the third and scored on a 2-1 (because the Plattsburgh defense was pinching in late to get the tying goal) and scored on an empty-net goal. Hardly total domination.

Both teams have played tough schedules. Both have tough games coming up (including one with each other). I think we've all, myself included, wasted a lot of energy on an argument no one can (or should) win. It's a meaningless November poll.

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/30

Seriously OZFEST what are you smoking....I don't see any Plattsburgh fans having any kind of a fit that you Lakers are putting up....no wonder you are the Lakers....all these tears you are crying would fill up most any great lakes

As a Plattsburgh fan, I am very GLAD to share the #1 ranking with Oswego, the conference with only one strong team would be just another MCHA.

Now 1-9-1:o , THAT would eat me up:p

As for the poll, you need to understand this, before you can even start to understand the poll ;)

Platty also plays Middlebury and Elmira i do believe,

Noting Oswego, Norwich, Skidmore, Trinity & Williams is currently tied for first in their respective conferences, remaining Plattsburgh games with first place opponents (note also, most are away games):

Sat Jan 2 Skidmore or Trinity @ Plattsburgh (Cardinal Classic)
Tue Jan 5 @ Norwich
Sat Jan 9 @ Elmira (currently in second place in the ECAC-W)
Tue Jan 12 Skidmore @ Plattsburgh
Mon Jan 18 @ Williams
Sat Jan 30 @ Oswego
Tue Feb 2 @ Middlebury

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/30

I noticed the D-III frontpage had the rankings article as the lead story saying "for the first time in recent memory two teams are tied for the #1 spot"

I don't think it was that long ago as I'm pretty sure Elmira and Plattsburgh were co #1's at one point in 2008 and then Oswego and Manhattanville were co #1's in 2007 for a week.

IIRC?

Norm...Webb?

Not sure, but certainly possible. For all the clutter I'm able to remember sometimes, I'm horrible at recounting poll history.

I often wish we had past polls easily archived because I always need to go look everything up. :)

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/30

December 3rd 2007 Poll: http://www.uscho.com/rankings/?data=uscho3m&season=20072008&week=1203

Elmira and Plattsburgh tied. I believe this was a similar situation to this year when Elmira beat Plattsburgh earlier in the season yet they were tied.

Jan 2nd 2007 Poll: http://www.uscho.com/rankings/?data=uscho3m&season=20062007&week=0102

Oswego and Manhattanville tied.

I'll do my own research I guess:) . I thought they were and there it is in perfect cursive...:D

My how things change. In those 2 polls you posted, one of the SUNYAC rivals was in a tie for 1st place, and the other was at the bottom of the poll or (dare I say it?) not in the poll.

And now, almost exactly 2 years removed from the latter of the polls, they are tied amongst themselves.

Just thought it was interesting...

Re: New Poll Predictions for 11/30

Jan 8th/10......that game is looming bigger and bigger. I know that the Adrian fans are really looking forward to the Oswego game.

I know that the Oswego students won't be back on campus by that point, but there has to be a lot of interested DIII fans going to show up....don't you think? There is a chance both teams will have a dozen wins under their belt at that point.

That will be a very telling week for Adrian. Two at Hamline and then one at Oswego in an eight day stretch. The Oswego game is obviously one of the most anticipated games of the year by the collective, but no one is talking about the Hamline series. The Pipers are quite good. 5-1-1 and the road tie at SNC was no joke. That game was even. They are a quick team with good goaltending and quite a bit of finishing talent up front. That should be a very, very interesting (and stylistically entertaining) series, and thankfully it's all of 12 miles from my house. :)
