NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

This was a bad day for ESPN Radio to have the telethon for The V Foundation.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

I'm sorry but I'm just not surprised/outraged by this. Sports reporters have been willing shills for athletes or owners for years now. Jim Gray was smart enough to actually get paid for it.

Remind me of Claude Raines being "Shocked! Shocked!" that there was gambling going on in Humphrey Bogart's club in Casablanca. Today the Boston Globe had some hack writing about this subject with righteous indignation. This is the same paper that employed and celebrated columnist Will "The Shill" McDonaugh for years, a guy who openly sold his column as a virtual press release for ownership/management in the name of getting a 'scoop'. IMHO, move on - there's nothing to see here.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Oh, I agree 100%. I'm a little more optimistic than you that VS. can provide that, now that they have NBC's money behind them. (Or has that not been finalized quite yet?)

If you want to build a true TV network competitor for ESPN, Versus is the best bet. They have Comcast's backing, they have access to the various local CSN's, and they have a natural link to a broadcast network via NBC.

I could see Yahoo partnering with a TV network to provide content, but no way would it make sense for them to start one from scratch.

If anything, a network like Fox might want to make a foray into a full-time sports network. They too have a lot of RSN's to draw from, the Big Ten Network, some big sports properties on the flagship plus some other nation-wide programming on Fox Soccer, and a corporation with a long history of expanding into new TV markets (Fox News, Fox Business, etc).

Dan Gilbert is now selling Lebron Fathead's for $17.41, the price being significant due to Bendict Arnold being born in 1741.

If you want one, you can get one here, although I don't know why anyone would want him in a Cavs uni, unless they're planning on burning it.

hahaha, that's hilarious! I'm starting to like Gilbert.

Who would the wolves be flying in from Cincinnati? Apparently my buddy was on a flight with him today.

The Golf Channel is going to get Charles Barkley's opinion on this circus. The Golf Channel.

If it's anything like what he told someone last night, it'll at least be funny.

"When I was 25, I wanted to be the man. For my team to be MY team. Obviously, LeBron knows he can't be the man."

Did you see that over-the-top intro to the Miami fans?? Good God, what a ridiculous show. I hope they don't make the playoffs.

ha...That's funny! It would take massive injuries to each of those three for that team to miss the playoffs.

If the Heat missed the playoffs next year that would be the biggest collapse in sports history. (aka...not going to happen).

At what point does Pat Riley push the coaching staff out the door and return to the bench? December? January? Sooner?

Sportscenter was already pimping that idea. So I'd guess before Labor Day.

Derek Fisher is now talking with Miami. Perfect. He'll finally be revealed as the fraud he is.

O/U on when the daily coverage finally stops? Or will it continue on through FIBA Worlds and into the NBA season?
