NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

LeBron is a d-bag to be sure, but that letter from the Cavs owner was embarrassing and read is if a jilted junior high kid wrote it instead of an adult millionaire. And clearly he didn't analyze the FA market for the next few years, never mind the black hole that is the city of Cleveland, before throwing out his guarantee.

As for James, if LeBron was worth a **** he should have been able to convince Bosh to go to Cleveland instead of him having to tuck his tail and go play second fiddle to someone else in Miami. I am glad he's finally being exposed because I've never enjoyed his, "bull in a china shop" style of basketball as opposed to what you saw from MJ and do see from Kobe.

This move may actually cause me to not hate the Lakers should they meet up with Miami in the NBA finals.

Great speech for the troops but I wouldn't print it and instead would have used the 24 hour rule and rewritten it today before publishing. Agree with the sentiment but it makes the writer look a little juvenile as well.

In times like that you need to think Cary Grant, not Lou Grant...stay calm, take the high road and still get the message across. With a well worded letter he could have garnered even more support and turned more people against Lebron.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

ESPN is excoriating Gilbert.

Since LeBron is now in Miami, why did he make the announcement in Greenwich? He could've done this from any Boys & Girls Club anywhere in the country. It was supposedly because of Carmelo Anthony's wedding this weekend, but since he flew to Miami last night, it clearly was not.

Who is the most-liked player in the NBA now? It isn't LeBron anymore. It isn't Wade. A lot of people will say Kobe, but a rapist is the face of the league now? I'm going to say there's currently a vacuum at the top of the pyramid. I think Kevin Durant is going to emerge from this summer looking like the hero in every NBA city except Miami. He wasn't even eligible as a free agent yet, signed a 5-year extension with his team, took less money than he could have gotten and did it all very quietly. Compare that with the dog and pony show we've witnessed and Durant looks like a hero.

ESPN is excoriating Gilbert..

Well, he did act like a five year old.
Which is much different from ESPN acting like screaming female teenage girls who mistook LeBron for a sparkly pale vampire last night.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Nope. LeBron was pretty much waiting for everyone else to make their move before he made his choice.

To boot, the free agents coming out in the next few years are going to be heavily courted by the stars and their new teams. Amare is trying to get Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks in 2011. The Three Stooges want Chris Paul in Miami in 2012 as well.

Cleveland is boned.

The DP show had a contest to see what the title of the ESPN show should be and that was my answer...and that was two days ago, before he told the city of Cleveland to bend over.

Looking at the list of the best free agents, the top 3 are in Miami and all of the top 10 are signed. The cupboard is pretty bare.
That was what I was wondering about. Amazing. He not only ripped out the hearts of Cleveland fans, he waited until the worst possible time for the team to rebuild. What a d-bag.

Well, he did act like a five year old.

As opposed to male teenage girls? :p

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

I heard they named a new train after LeBron in Cleveland. I heard it's a Steamer. :D

I also have the Cavs new marketing slogan. It's a twist on the old WNBA motto...

The Cleveland Cavaliers: We got...... nothing.

Re: NBA 2009-2010: More ref complaints

Whoops

But the network didn’t say, and now says they didn't know, that Gray's travel and payment for "The Decision" show was being paid by the entity set up by Team LeBron and not by ESPN, as CNBC has learned.

“We aren’t privy to Gray’s arrangement,” said ESPN spokesman Mike Soltys. “He came as part of the package. We accepted Jim knowing that we would have extensive time for our people to interview LeBron, which was bulk of the show.”

Gray’s agent Sandy Montag of IMG declined comment. Attempts to reach Maverick Carter, through James’ publicist Keith Estabrook, were unsuccessful.

Gray’s interview in the show was widely criticized. Richard Sandomir of the New York Times panned the order and the timing of Gray’s questioning, saying that it took six minutes and 18 questions before asking on what team James would next play. USA Today’s Mike McCarthy called the six minutes before Gray asked the most important question “excruciating happy talk.”

Those are the worst kind.

I have a funny feeling that giant "expose" of LeBron's many indiscretions in Cleveland will be on the same level as the Spygate guy and his imaginary tape of the Rams walk through.

Because LeBron's posse will kill them!!!11!!!!

More Reaction from this circus.

I wish something other than ESPN was an outlet for sports. Im sick of this already. Where is CNNSI when you need it?

A PR Expert on Sportscenter said he looked "Intelligent last night" and "Brand LeBron is going to be better than ever."

In that article on NBA Exec said the Lebron brand is s***

SI or Yahoo! needs to get a cable sports channel ASAP. I don't think we have enough time to wait for Vs. to build up steam before ESPN destroys everything we love about sports.

I'd sign on for a Yahoo! sports network. They've been breaking a lot of stories lately and I'd love for them to get a network. However, if that happens, ESPN would go into kill mode like they did with CNNSI.

She needs to get a clue. I watched the same segment and laughed my arse off and said "is this ***** serious?"

I hope ESPN slipped her a few bucks because IN NO way was this good for LeBron's image.

I don't know about that. I love sports, ESPN gives me lots of sports (along with a bunch of crap of course). SI has experienced a decrease in quality as well in my mind, so I don't know that they would run a TV network much better than ESPN does.

You think so?

I feel like Yahoo is usually always a few hours or a day or so behind on stories that ESPN breaks.

Their "catchy" teases they try and put on the front page have grown old and tiresome IMHO and usually they are misleading or just plain stupid.

Not saying I like the way ESPN handles things nowadays. But, Yahoo would need a major overhaul before they came up with anything that could even come close to challenging.

I loved CNNSI...though nobody really remembers it. :( Since it was created by Time Warner Media it was only on Time Warner stations and was in 20 million homes.

I would like Yahoo Sports TV, They're journalistic credibility is on the rise and have broke many big stories, like Reggie Bush violations, and they actually cover EVERY SPORT, and no, scrabble is not a sport. ******* YOU ESPN

The increase in competition can only do good things for both parties.
