Incredibly Dull Boring 2022 Pairwise and Tournament Possibilites Thread

Didn't even realize the regional final game times won't be set until they know who is playing in them. So the Albany/Loveland regional final game times won't be decided until tonight. Add that to the list of stupid ideas. So the Loveland regional starts after Albany but let's not commit to game times for Saturday ahead of time. All to try and maximize miniscule TV ratings.

Saturday's schedule: Loveland will play the early game, then Albany.

Consistency!

I doubt that because of the limited attendance last year. From the official figures published by the NCAA in their Men's Attendance Records and Sites...
It turns out that the NCAA official attendance figures are incorrect for a number of sites/years. I've used the official game summaries to compile attendance for each day at each site and I'm looking at factors like host teams, distance of nearest team(s), etc. However, the reported attendance for Albany today of 2,345 is the second lowest for any regional semifinal round (excluding last season) out of 87 to date (by % of capacity it is the lowest). And it was only 56 more than the record low of Van Andel Arena in 2013.

It's funny that this is an east regional right and fans from eastern teams live close by yet didn't go. Usually the criticism is for west regionals but loveland had good attendance for an afternoon game, during the week.

According to the game summary Loveland attendance was 3,138, which is fourth worst behind Grand Rapids in 2013, Albany this year and Toledo in 2013. Those 2013 semifinals had the worst first day attendance of just 19,579, saved by Providence and Manchester. I'm not sure Allentown will help save this year's attendance, but Worcester may have good attendance.

Have been struggling with the regional setup since first attending a regional in 2003 and agree with many of the comments here. I'm primarily a college hockey fan and not aligned with a particular team. Now live north of Boston and heading to Albany Saturday morning for the regional final and will catch the Worcester final Sunday on the way back. Fortunately, there is a distinguished craft brewery in between. Looking forward to seeing some great hockey.

My favorite part of the review last night was Starman saying "remember, they don't play a lot of hockey here". Sounds like a perfect spot for a regional!

Worcester is at least a good atmosphere tonight. Not like the old days but good enough to justify a neutral site. Honestly, Worcester usually ends up doing pretty well every time.

Manch does well too. TV announcer described Worcester atmosphere as “UMass frat house”.
