Incredibly Dull Boring 2022 Pairwise and Tournament Possibilites Thread

I don't like it... The players need a day off, particularly after OT games. The fans can figure it out.
Except that >90% of games they play during the season are part of back to back games. That's just how college hockey works. So why would the best teams in the country suddenly need a day off to rest in the NCAA tourney?

Playing devil's advocate here, during the regular season, the longest a game can go is 65 minutes, and five of that is 3 x 3, and then onto a shootout. In the post season games can go on for multiple 20 minute overtimes.

For the record, I tend to fall on the side of no off day. But if a game the night before goes into a fourth overtime, do players need a day off?

I know the Frozen 4 has gone to non-traditional sites nowhere near any D1 teams. For that reason I think a perfect city to host a regional is Savannah, Georgia. They opened their new arena this year and have been selling out their ECHL Ghost Pirates games. A trip to Savannah in late March would be fantastic as the city has lots to offer tourists too. They also operate the Civic Center rink as a practice rink for the Ghost Pirates as well giving additional ice time for practices.

As beav pointed out, OT in the RS is pretty limited. The other, bigger, difference is that for most teams playing Fri/Sat during the RS, they are playing the same team the following night. So both teams are equally affected. In the tourney, you'd be facing a team that would be fresher - potentially much fresher.

It is a fun city, but being they have the 2nd or 3rd largest St. Paddy's Day celebration in the USA, could be difficult to score hotel rooms within a hundred mile radius if it & Frozen Four occur in the same week.

The regionals are usually held the last weekend in March (around the 25th) while the Frozen 4 is held two weeks later. That way the St Patrick's events would be the week before which would free up the hotel rooms by the following week or weekend. Imagine combining the two events in a row, it would probably become a tradition for many.
