Hockey East 2010-2011

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

Thats a big misconception. The coastal Mainers have the moronic accent. The in landers don't and they are the masses and the ones who run the straight. No one from Beals Island buying season tickets at Alfond.

I disagree. The coastal accent, especially the islanders, is thicker and a bit different. But no way do inland Mainers not have awesome accents. It's hit or miss. And it doesn't mean they're uneducated either. I know plenty of educated people that own businesses or have good jobs that still have a bit of an accent. I never developed one, so they kicked me out.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

and he has the accent that 99% of Maine does not. Outside sneaking down to the mall for school shopping or to watch Maine HS basketball at the auditorium once a year, you must admit our dealings with coastal Mainers, especially the down east ones, is limited...

I live on an island so I guess my dealing with Coastal Maine isn't limited. I also work Downeast all the time, I was in Machias on Monday and in Jonesport and Whiting last Friday.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

anyone interested in talking hockey?

I'm throwing Medvec's name out as a first team HE defenseman this season

that should stir up the locals

I wouldn't bank on it. While it may be another down year in Hockey East, there is no shortage of top defensemen. Kessel, Warsofsky and Dumoulin have to be the top 3 headed into the year. However, there are a bunch of other guys that I wouldn't be shocked to see in the discussion by the end of the season. Some names that come to mind are Wey, Samuelsson, O'Neill, Dimmen, Edwards, Stollery, Bigos, and Kipp.

I'd throw Nicastro and Kostolansky into the discussion as well. Really liked what I saw from both of them as freshmen.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

Theyah a lot of gud defensemen in hawkey east dis year....in fact a banner ye-ah....which will make pher some gud games....countonit. Now, go back to making phun of wollies accent....ayuh.

Agreed. There were some more I could have listed but figured I had gone deep enough already. If Nicastro and Kosto are playing with Warso and Kessel respectively, they could rack up a lot of points. I know Kosto played great with Kessel during the second half of last year, but not sure what BU will do with their pairings with Clendening coming in.

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

Kostolansky and Samuelson are not at that level.

I don't usually disagree with your opinions of one-the-ice happenings, but Samuelsson does belong in the discussion. While he probably wouldn't be on and all Hockey East preseason first or second team, he's at least in the discussion and will be at the end of the season. He improved a ton throughout last year and made the final 9 d-men of the summer World Junior camp.

Fair enough BUT, he was there by politics, played in only 2 of the games and was the first cut on the D side. Didnt dress in the last few games. He will not be at the camp in December. Zero chance he is all hockey East. Not even top 3 on his team, behind Dumoulin, Cross and Wey. Improved aton over the season was Dumoulin.

I love hockey Hokeydad can be so resolute about telling someone their opinions are wrong. Samuelsson does absolutely belong in that discussion. Why? Because I think so.

I think since this guy is so sure, that he should retire from posting if Samuelsson is all conference this year.

that I will do
20 d in league better

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

The best part was that I never said that Samuelsson was a definite for all Hockey East. I just said he belonged in the discussion and listed over 10 guys, of which he was one.

We get it, you hate Samuelsson. Almost every post you make about him has to do with "politics". Enough of the BS already. Just evaluate his game...fair enough? FWIW, I don't think there's any chance of him on all HE either. Why? He's not flashy enough for the HE awards, but he had a fantastic freshman season. Played in all 42 games, added 13 helpers (many more than I expected) and was a +15.

Name me 20 better...

I come up with potential players you could say or definitely are better than him...

Dumoulin, BC
Cross, BC
Wey, BC
O'Neill, Maine
Dimmen, Maine
Warsofsky, BU
Stollery, MC
Bigos, MC
Medvec, UVM
MacKenzie, UVM
Edwards, UML
Kessel, UNH
Velischek, PC

That's thirteen that I listed that are the top defensemen in Hockey East (returning players). I don't believe all of them are better than Samuelsson, but I was fishing to try and come up with 20 just to show you how stupid your statements are. The sad thing is you have some decent knowledge SOMETIMES, but make outlandish, outrageous comments so you lose all credibility.

Add three to five recruits that you could say are better than Samuelsson potentially and you still only have 18. I'd say it is a safe bet to say he is in the top 15.

It's also safe to say, you sir are a fool.

Madore could certainly be an all-conference mention when the year is over. If Vermont has a good season he certainly should be. I just feel there are a few potential goaltenders who could also be. (Muse, Millan, Beaudry, Rawlings)

Re: Hockey East 2010-2011

I'm really thinking we all need to come to a gentleman's agreement that we won't discuss goalies until the season is underway.

;)
