Boston University 2011 Offseason

Two memories come to mind:

1) the deep sadness when I saw Mark's name scroll across the bottom of the TV screen that fateful day
2) the incredible turnout for his memorial in Roslindale. So many people - they opened up the church basement with an audio feed from above.

RIP Mark.
Both Bavis brothers were the kind of players who played every game like they understood that it was a privilege to wear the Scarlet and White jersey. And if you happened to bump into them on the T or in class the day after a game and tell them they played well, you'd get a genuine and humble response.

Man, some of you will cling on the Beanpot for dear life...

Take the Beanpots away, if you want, and it is 15-11.

Or you could take the Beanpots away from the years prior to York going to BC, and Parker's advantage increases.

In the context of college hockey in Boston, the Beanpot is important. Those that say otherwise are most likely from the universities that rarely win it.

Personally, I'd take the NCAA, Hockey East playoffs and HE regular season titles over the Beanpot. But the Beanpot is still important.

Coach Parker has 8 RS titles, 7 since Coach York started at BC, to 5 RS titles for Coach York.

Gotta love those regular season tiltles....

BC 3 national championships since JY came over, JP 1. Do a little silent poll and ask all the players since JY arrived at the Heights, who they admire, respect and would play for again.
I think JY would be a run away winner there as well.

Re: Boston University 2011 Offseason

Just wondering: BU takes the ice in an exhibition two weeks from this Saturday night and all that most people can talk about is who's better, York or Parker?

I'd like to hear the skinny on the freshman, line combinations, people's expectations for the skaters coming back, etc. Looking at last season's stats, a team that scored 116 goals in 39 games has lost only 24 of those (15 for Pereira, 7 for Warsofsky, and 2 others). My math says there should be a bump up in scoring, but how big?

We will find out in a couple of weeks....

Anyone have any updates on Cisse?

All those folks who say you hang out at jr high schools may be onto something there.,..

Despite the fact Sean is fixated on what Parker has done since the very first day York arrived at BC, I'll respond here...

The biggest point about that Beanpot comparison is that Parker's coached in a lot more of them than York has. I thought that was fairly obvious. Really not sure what the Beanpot results prior to York arriving at BC have to do with anything...

And for the 500th time, I know the Beanpot is important on some levels. I'm still waiting to find one person (who knows what the Beanpot is) that thinks it has no importance. Northeastern rarely wins the Pot, but I'm fairly certain they all think it's important.

Re: Boston University 2011 Offseason

Huh. I could have sworn he showed up there in 96-97 season.
That wasn't jerry's team....
It seems you both believe J.D.’s propaganda. ;)

I’m not fixated on anything, I just run queries to compare Coach Parker against other head coaches. Coach York took over BC for the 1994-95 season, so that is reflected in the results. I’m certainly not going to change my queries because of what you think should and should not count.

Regarding the overall championships listed, they are just an add-on to the head-to-head results between Coach Parker and Coach York to quickly show how Coach Parker has done in his career in that tournament. I included the championships for the other head coaches for comparison, but I still don’t have all tournament results for all in-season tournaments (other than the Beanpot) in my database, so the titles for the other coaches may be incomplete.

Again with the database. Now we're talking about running queries in the thing. My God this is funny.
