Boston University 2011 Offseason

Re: Boston University 2011 Offseason

Andrew Glass actually isn't on the team anymore. Parker kicked him off half way through last season.

Regardless, the team banded together behind him and were very concerned about finding his brother. They all stuck around after a lengthy practice on Thursday and were gung ho about getting flyers up and searching for him.

In other news, Ruikka was off the ice way before the rest of the team on Thursday and had been walking with a slight limp earlier in the week. A source said he thinks Ruikka should be fine, but take from that what you will.

I simply stated Parker kicked him off the team, in reference to PC Fan wanting to see Andrew Glass and his fellow BU mates down at Schneider Arena for the first game of the year.

I would expect nothing less from the BU hockey team, nor any other team, to go to bat and help out a friend whose family was in a scary situation. I'm glad the guys on the team helped look for Glass' brother.

Saw on NESN tonight that Warsofsky survived the 14 player cut today. So did Cohen. They are saying it is down to the two of them, kampfer and bartkowski for the final d-man spot, though Joe Corvo may also be in the mix depending on the status of an injury.

nice....
DW and CC both have had good camps with DW really impressing. Just a matter of time. I would expect CC to be traded this year for sure

Yeah that is concerning. Hopefully it is nothing major to keep him out vs UNH. I would probably guess his chance of playing in the exhibition this week are slim. Any word on who the A's are yet that you know of?

Corvo's pretty much a lock to make it as the 6th d-man, as it appears the groin injury is nothing too serious. So those other four are battling for the seventh D spot. Kampfer would appear to be the favorite since he already has 40 games of NHL experience under his belt and performed well for the most part. Bartkowski is further along in his development than Cohen and Warsofsky and might be more NHL-ready. All four, Kampfer included, have had ups and downs in training camp. If I had to guess, I'd say it goes to Kampfer. I'd be at least mildly surprised if Cohen or Warsofsky made the team out of camp, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see either or both of them get some time with the big club at some point this season.

They are supposed to announce the As this week. I got the sense from interviews on Thursday that the team knows who the As are but isn't sharing yet. As soon as we find out, we'll post something on the blog/twitter.

All I know is they still have Joseph Perricone in goal. You may recall that two years ago, he stood on his head and stopped 51 of 53 shots. That's all I've got, though.

I hear he had a terrible bruise from 45 of those 53 shots hitting him in the EXACT same spot in the center of his chest, I'm happy he recovered well enough to continue his career ;)

From USCHO's Top 10 Goalies Article...

"Millan gets an early test Oct. 8 against DiGirolamo and the Wildcats. He saw DiGirolamo five straight times to end last season and the Wildcats are the first regular season opponent on the docket for the Terriers this season. He won two of the five contests at the end of last season, and will look to build off those victories."

Didn't BU and Millan face Northeastern five straight times to end last season?

Re: Boston University 2011 Offseason

StFX were runner-up to the University of New Brunswick is last year's AUS conference finals, pushing UNB to five games. UNB went on to win the CIS University Cup, defeating McGill 4-0 in gold medal game. "X" advanced to the UCup, but had a bad first game against McGill (hangover from UNB series?) and lost by a goal, and then beat Alberta handily, but didn't advance to final.

They are normally a physical team, and thrive on getting under the skin of skilled teams like UNB (after the whistle scrums, etc.) They can play skilled hockey, but they have resorted to a tight defensive shell, a trap, in their last two playoff years against UNB. Worked two years ago, and as I said, pushed UNB to five games this past March after knocking off defending CIS champs Saint Mary's. They will go as far as Joey Perricone takes them in nets.

Yes, and not only that but NU rotated goalies. So he never faced anyone five straight times at any point in his career.

The Millan comment and last week's remark that pegged Nicastro as a top HE d-man pretty much tell you all you need to know about these preseason previews.

Re: Boston University 2011 Offseason

weird poll, duluth gets one fewer first place vote than the number one team, but is ranked eighth. must've gotten a butt load of low/no rankings.

Their average ranking from the other 40 voters was between 11th and 12th. Just FYI since you went to COM and all.:p
