Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

One of the main reasons I'm pulling for the Rangers is because the chances of bringing the Cup back to The Heights is that much higher; as both Kreider and Boyle are from eastern Mass. They could spend half the day at BC and the other half at their families home. The same can't be said for Gionta, Harrold or Scuderi.

Didn't see the whole game but Scuderi was great last night in the 3rd and OT. Great signing by the Kings organization after he won the Cup with the Pens. Worth every penny.

Pens had to make a choice with money.... Scuds or orpik. I can't blame them for choosing Brooks. He's been outstanding.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

If you play in 1 game in the Stanley Cup Finals you get your name on the cup (or 41 or more regular season games with the team and remain with that team). Most likely, Gionta or Kreider would play in at least 1 game in the Finals.

I stand corrected. I thought it was more...Kreider is a beast. I'll never forget that goal he scored against BU in the beanpot 2 years ago. He came out of the box, took the feed, undressed Escobedo, and toyed with Millan. Even I jumped up out of my seat...

I wouldn't be surprised if the Stanley Cup was brought to Conte for the banner raising or something if Kreider wins.

Rumors on another thread say that Ryan Fitzgerald will be leaving Malden Catholic and plying for the EJHL next year. Not a bad idea in my opinion though the USHL may have been a better option...

USHR reported last month that Ryan Fitzgerald (BC) and Brendan Collier (BU), and Lawrence Academy star Devin Tringale (Harvard) have committed to the Valley Jr. Warriors for the ’12-13 season.

Will be real interesting to see if Fitzgerald can dominate at the Jr level as he did in the Catholic conference. Still not sure on his size as he's been mentioned as being anywhere from 5'7" to 5'10".

Looks like another recruiting battle will go down on comm ave, this time for Lincoln Stars forward Kevin Roy. Looking to get out of his Brown commitment. For those of you who don't follow the USHL, Roy had the best year in 15 years with 104 pts in 59 games. He went undrafted last year, but it looks like he'll go anywhere from the 2-4 round range this year as an overager. Here's the article.
Next season Roy is slated to attend Brown University, but sources tell TPS that may not happen. Now before you rush out and buy your Kevin Roy Quebec Remparts jersey, the CHL might not be his destination either. Patrick Roy has reached out to the Roy - no relation - family but so far they aren't interested in the major junior route. Roy's family really wants him to get an education while playing hockey and feel the NCAA is the best path. But Brown might not be it, after all when you count Yan Danis, Tim Bothwell and Todd Simpson as your top alumni, it doesn't exactly scream next level development. Instead TPS has been told the Roy camp is exploring getting out of his commitment and possibly playing for Boston University or Boston College if possible.

Here's his highlight video.
I'd love to see a Gaudreau - Roy - whoever line.

Can you say hello Kevin Roy, goodbye Brendan Silk :D

Now this won't happen. Jerry committed Silk almost 3 years ago, and it was a very big deal at the time. If he wants to continue to get the very young very good commits, he's gotta honor them and he knows this. If he did it again within a year of doing it before it would look very very very bad and others like BU would just use it against them. Now we know the situation has changed drastically with him since his injury but in the end it is what it is. Even if he doesn't dress a game he'll still get his full scholly or whatever they offered him. They might try and push him to do an extra year in the USHL especially dare I say they ended up with both Roy and Kerfoot but thats a long long ways away.

Basically what Im saying is its too late for them to pull a Tiefenwerth and tell him listen we'll give u a scholly but dont even bother, you're a good player find another one. Plus I don't know how many schools would offer Silk a full scholly right now either.

Look for former BC recruit Brandon Shea to leave Moncton and land in Dubuque..
Good move

Couldn't hack it in Canada? Dumb idea sending the kid up there and now he has no eligibility for NCAA hockey.

Daddy Shea sure looks like a dope now, doesn't he?

York and all college coaches (and College Hockey Inc) should be using this kid as a posterchild for the argument that keeping your eligibility is the most important thing at that age.
