Re: All Things Denver XXX

Any word on the "big name" Defenseman that Chamber was referencing coming in next year?
Still a week or two away from the announcements. There's a very good reason for keeping it on the downlow for the next two weeks.

Wait, what did I miss? Where is the article about this defenseman of whom you are speaking????

Re: All Things Denver XXX

Looking very good for the lacrosse team. DU leads Fairfield 11-4 with less than 12 minutes remaining in the game. The Pioneers look as though they're in good shape to host a first round NCAA game once the field of teams is announced.

Re: All Things Denver XXX

Oh right, never mind. I remember this, I thought it was something more recent.
Look for two players to announce they are coming to DU this week in the 2011 recruiting class. They will be immediate impact players and will go a long way to replacing Matt Donovan and Dustin Jackson.

DU lax tickets go on sale at 2 PM MT today. They are only $10 so buy a fistfull and get a crowd to come on out to the game on Sunday against Nova.

Re: All Things Denver XXX

An FYI for local DU fans.

Tickets for the Denver-Villanova NCAA-tournament-lacrosse game this Sunday May 15 at 3:15P.M. [Denver time] went on sale half an hour ago. It's a good news/bad news situation. The good news: the tickets are extremely reasonably priced at $10.00 for adults. The bad news: all tickets are general admission, which means, even if you have a ticket to the game you should plan on being in the stadium early as good sight line seats will fill early.

A second piece of good news: the long range forecast calls for drop-dead gorgeous weather this Sunday--cloudless skies with temps in the mid-to-upper 70s. When I bought a pair of tickets just minutes after they went on sale, there was already a handful of students buying tickets. As word of mouth spreads across campus and Sunday draws nearer, ticket sales could be brisk. I'm guessing there's a decent chance of a sold-out stadium and/or a standing room only crowd depending largely on student body attendance.

At $10 for an adult [less for students and children] the price is right, attending the game is a nice way to spend a late Sunday afternoon and it's your last chance to attennd an on campus sporting event until next fall. Hope to see some folks there.

I understand the possibility of adding some temporary seating is being looked into if the tickets sell out fast.

Re: All Things Denver XXX

More lacrosse:

Sunday's play-off game between DU and Villanova will be the first NCAA tournament game played west of the Mississippi (as DU's high ranking won the Pios home field advantage). DU comes to the NCAA tournament as the 6th seed and ranked 4th/ 5th in the latest polls.

On a less positive note DU's Todd Baxter sustained what could have been a serious injury in the dying minutes of the Fairfield game. For those who followed the last World Cup in lacrosse (the international championships) which were held in Manchester, England in 2010, Baxter was a leading scorer on the much improved England team. The next lacrosse world cup is scheduled for 2014 in Denver..

Re: All Things Denver XXX

Coach Brown sent a message this afternoon saying 600 tickets were sold in the first two hours. If you want to have a way into the game and don't want to hop the fence or sneak by ARGUS security, I suggest going on ticket master and getting tickets soon.

Its nothing as clandestine as stealing a previously committed player, just that its tricky situation that will be revealed soon. DU will have a very good D-man and Forward on the roster next season.

I'm a little surprised that Chambers hasn't announced it yet.

It's a good day around here when we can work "clandestine" into our posts. :)
