Re: All Things Denver XXX

Wow, let me get this straight:

Co. Thunderbirds, U-18 National Championship
Co. Eagles, CHL Nat. champs, twice
University of Denver, NCAA Champs 7 times
Colorado Avalanche, NHL Stanley Cup champs twice

Colorado, the new "state of hockey"?

Interesting!!!!

Are we only counting Colorado college(s) with national championships since 1958? ;)

Think the Colorado Thunderbirds have a U-16 National Championship

Re: All Things Denver XXX

Admittedly I know very little about lacrosse. That said I did find this on ESPN's website. Quint is a former Hopkins goalie from what I can tell.

Excerpts from Quint Kessenich chat on ESPN.
Villanova: underdogs in Denver but if Kevin Cunningham plays, they have a shot.
Pioneers are a slight 2 goal favorite this weekend and then they will be a slight dog next week at Hofstra against JHU or the Pride
Denver is a slight favorite based on home field advantage, face off man Chase Carraro and coach Bill Tierney. Nova hasn't looked as powerful without Kevin Cunningham.
Here is the deal...neither team has won a playoff game...so I'm not sure what to expect emotionally and technically from Nova or Denver. Unchartered waters.

Question: who would you say is the best goalie ever in college lacrosse and who is the best right now?
Answer: Larry Quinn.John Galloway of Syracuse right now.Austin Kaut of PSU and Jamie Faus of Denver are two freshmen who could be tremendous down the road.
Question: Tewaarton Trophy finalist?
Answer: Karalunas has had a better year than White in my opinion...seems like White being rewarded for his career achievements. My top five would be:PannellBoltusKaralunasMark MatthewsJohn Galloway

And my favorite comment
Question: Does Denver have a shot at going all the way this year, and if not this year does it look like their program is building to be really big in the near future?
Answer:When Princeton won in 1992 it shocked the lacrosse world. If Denver were a stock I'd be buying.

Re: All Things Denver XXX

For the out of town lacrosse fans who will neither be attending or watching the game, here's a weather report for you. It's gray, cool-to-cold and damp, as it has been most of the week in Denver. The floodlights have been on for several hours at Peter Barton Stadium to help provide additional lighting for the televising of today's game. The skies are completely overcast, but it appears that rain will not be a factor in the game. A slick or slippery playing surface may be a factor as--for Denver--there has been considerable rainfall this week and especially in the past seventy-two hours.

Re: All Things Denver XXX

Wow. Pioneers with comeback win. Jamie Faus was really dialed in in the fourth quarter. Huge, enthusiastic crowd. Lots of students and lots of crimson and gold. And Boone posters, too. Very impressive all 'round.

Was fun to watch and see the crowd support for DU lacrosse!

Several TV shots of DG firing up the crowd. DU will plays Hopkins next Saturday at 2:30 PM ET at Shuart Stadium on the campus of Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY. I watched several of the Lax games this weekend and DU's crowd was among the largest. Keep in mind that many schools on the east coast have already finished their semesters and the students have gone home for the summer.

I will be at the DU-Hopkins game. I already asked the DU Alumni office to sell tickets on-line as they did for DU-Duke game out on the Island. Short week, so not sure they have time to get this done if not already in planning stages.
We should have a big turn-out at the game. 2:30 PM. The main event after the Cornell-UVA warm-up game.
Glad you guys seem to be enjoying Lacrosse. Most hockey fans do.
