Re: All Things Denver XXX

I went to lunch at a local pub today and there were many screens showing sporting events. One was college women's softball, another was basketball, another was a random vacuum cleaner infomercial and lo and behold, the screen right above me was Denver - Hopkins Lacsosse!!! I couldn't believe it!!!

Re: All Things Denver XXX

WOW!!!! Was at the game with a couple of the hockey posters and DU had a fine turnout of about 500 fans including local alums, parents and DU bigwigs. Lots of young local kids rooting for DU!!! Nice reception before the game by the alumni association. Tierney outcoached the Hop coach from the get go. DU's speed upfront burned the Hop D and DU's D was stifling. DU did very good on faceoffs in the first half and had a bit of a letdown in the 2nd half. Faus was excellent in goal against a team that would shoot it from anywhere. A watershed game in DU Lax history. Unbelievable that DU is in the Final 4 in just 2 seasons after Bill's arrival.

Can you believe DU has a shot at a national championship in something other than skiing or hockey?

This team has the horses to do it. Great game plan today by Bill and his staff. Watched the 2nd half of the Cornell/UVA game and UVA looks very tough even without the two twins who were thrown off the team a few weeks ago. They buried Cornell which was a shock. Stadium was completely filled for the first game with about 85% Cornell fans. Stadium was close to being full for DU/Hop game. Lots of local youth kids at the games and many of them supporting DU! DU NCAA T-shirts were sold out before the DU game started.

YEAH that was awesome! DU just looked better, and Hopkins and their coach looked like they got hit by a train. Great job by du 's goalie to make a few brilliant saves at critical times. Looked like du had a great fan turnout, and they could be heard in the broadcast. On to the final four!!! Pretty unbelievable, but with the way du is playing and being coached, I wouldn't be surprised if they knock off Virginia. A proud day for pioneer fans.

Re: All Things Denver XXX

The TV geniuses got to talking about the westward expansion of LAX and brought up Title IX concerns. At one point one of 'em said: "DU doesn't have a BCS quality football team." Ya think? Idiot. To be fair we're an unknown commodity, and what's part of our heritage is just so much pre-game press releases for them. Except for Tierney we're pretty much a cipher. They had us losing last week, again this week and next week, too. I guess the only way for this team to get the props it richly deserves is for them to wind up hoisting the trophy. Works for me.

edit: and 70% of Todd Baxter (or whatever it was) is pretty impressive. Gutty performance. Presumably he'll feel better next week. "We look slower on tape."
