DU home schedule update - 19 home games + 2 exhibitions

10/1 Exhibition - USNDT?
10/7 Exhibition - McGill?
10/21 & 22 - MSUM
11/4 & 5 - UMD
Sat 11/12 - CC
11/18 & 19 - UNO
11/25 & 26 - Denver Cup
12/30 - Union
1/6 & 7 - UAH
1/13 & 14 - BSU
Fri 2/3 - CC
2/10 & 11 - MN
2/24 & 25 - UND

Exhibition dates are set - not sure which team will be on which date.
Union will probably be playing either AF or CC over New Year's weekend as they only have 1 game with DU on 12/30. I would think DU will be playing AF at their place on New Year's weekend.

LaLonde applies for Clarkson job -
http://www.watertowndailytimes.com/section/knightstales

Thoughts? What could Clarkson expect from LaLonde?

other possible names include (former coach Mark Morris), Merrimack assistant Phil Roy, a former Clarkson player, Brasher Falls native Derek Lalonde, an assistant at Denver, and Hobart head coach Mark Taylor, a Canton native.

"I'm from Brasher Falls, that's always home for me and always will be," said Lalonde, who confirmed he has applied for the position. "I grew up with (Clarkson) in our backyard. No doubt it excites me."

So with guys like Mayfield and Lazarra, do we have a recruiting class as strong as this year's class?

2011 Recruiting Class
D Scott Mayfield (Youngstown, USHL)
F Zac Larraza (U.S. Under-18)
D Joey LaLeggia (Penticton Vees, BCHL)
--------------------------------------
F Larkin Jacobson (Janesville Jets, NAHL)
D-F Wade Bennett (Wichita Falls, NAHL)
F Matt Tabrum (Omaha, USHL)

The top half has been getting all the press over the past year.

From what I have seen, I would say no. Zucker was a once in a generation type freshman...kids just don't normally do that. That being said, you should have another very good class. Mayfield will be like Derek Forbort was for North Dakota this past year. He will be very solid defensively, has an alright shot, and great vision. Larraza should put up decent numbers, but I don't think it will be quite like Zucker. Of course, I wouldn't have thought Zucker was going to be as good as he was right away, so take that into consideration. Anyway, just an outside perspective on your recruiting class...they'll win plenty of games though.

Plus, we were all expecting Beau Bennett to be the break out frosh.

Also Nick Shore missed a good chunk of the first half with the broken wrist. I am expecting big jumps in offensive production from both of those guys. DU could have lost 3 players early to the pros and luckily for DU only 1 (Donovan) left.

I am looking for offensive production next season from primarily the vets. Maiani and K. Ostrow are the big graduation losses who contibuted at the forward position. Obviously Jesse was a big part of the team but with his injury early last season he wasn't able to play for most of the season. Unlike the prior season where the main offensive forwards left early or graduated, DU is returning a lot of fire power.

Returning forwards expected to score:
Zucker
Goal Czar
D. Shore
N. Shore
Bennett
Mermis
Knowlton
S. Ostrow

Re: All Things Denver XXX

Any word on the "big name" Defenseman that Chamber was referencing coming in next year?

For a really little guy, without the big reputation, The Mermis certainly gave us some great moments, didn't he? And from Alton,Il, where ice is usually what you put in a drink.
