2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

Absolutely, correct. There are no boundaries.

The goal is to divide & conquer and make you hate your neighbor who you will have much more in common with than any politician and/or bureaucrat. And of course never question the institutions themselves but actually beg for more when you get your crack every 4 years or so.

a fan of Bullworth, just like mookie!!!!

Those old enough to remember, is this what it was like in '72 when people denied voting for Nixon's second term?

I think it’s hard for older people to appreciate how tough their situation is if they’re not from an affluent family. I don’t think either party is doing anywhere close to enough to help them.

But only a willfully ignorant person would deny that R economic policies have favored the affluent at the expense of the working class for more than 40 years. They drive that stake in the working class heart deeper every chance they get.

"It's the economy, stupid"- James Carville, 1992

It's a constant pressure of monthly quiet bitching every time they paid 70% more for groceries. That houses cost 200% more, cars 100% more. And those people vote once every four years and don't follow politics. I don't think there was a Democrat that could have won.

Anyone acting as if the democrats have done anything different is truly delusional. Obama easily could've with the supermajority he had but was a total fraud who was funded by the banking industry and other major corporations. It's not like Trump gained a massive amount of votes, the democrats just lost 15 million because it's obvious they weren't going to improve or change anything in that regard.

This election showed a real duality of problems for the Democrats. Vote blue no matter who is a terrible strategy but leftist, young voters are far too fickle (and frankly stupid) to try to appease.

This. 100% this!

And Carville thought Harris would win, right up until the end.

The only way any of this changes is if there is an economic collapse. Like one that would make 1929 look like a blip. Real suffering is the only possible way to change things. The sad part is people like me would have to suffer as well.

As I said earlier, you deport the people who grow and harvest almost your entire food supply, and then put tariffs of 100% or even more on everything that gets imported into this country, that's what you end up with.

Drew talked about how you can't afford cars. Cars built in Mexico, say the manufacturer's cost is $20,000. Now you double that. The manufacturer wants his profit, that's why he's in business. Say he was selling that car for $35,000. Now it's $55,000. How you like that, Drew? Affordable? Helpful to the average working person?

The left doesn’t want bodily autonomy? Or first time home buyer assistance? Or expanded child tax credits? Or legal marijuana? Or trans rights? Or anything anti-Project 2025?

Conspiracy people are already trying to go back and claim 2020 was fraudulent (again!). Tons of posts about vote totals because people don’t get there are still ~10 million votes left in areas where she’s winning 60%+. Yeah, she got less than Biden, but there isn’t a missing 13 million people. If the NBC numbers are correct there’s currently around 10 million outstanding votes to be counted in areas she’s winning 60/40.

Well, there is a missing ~1 million. Thanks Donnie.

She literally put people in prison for smoking weed and reversed every single one of her left wing positions from 2019 while doubling down on genocide (her campaign also sent Ritchie Torres and Bill Clinton to chastise muslim voters in Michigan lmfao). Yeah can't imagine why the left doesn't just take these frauds at their word anymore.

Was the Biden admin trying to pack the court or introduce term limits on Supreme Court justices? Or did they just ignore the issue completely?

But the (so-called) billionaire is on their side.

That's what I was thinking in an earlier post. Certainly the manner in which Harris was picked did not do the Democrats any favors, but the responses and analysis we've seen in the last day seem to me like a lot of voters made up their mind two or three years when inflation was at its worst that the Dems would be punished regardless. I think she did a good job trying to get across whose policies would actually make it worse and bring it back (since we're down to the 2% target now), but people didn't want solutions, they wanted blame. Not sure any other candidate would have gotten around that better.

Yes, the rate of that inflation is back down to the norms we usually have, but stuff is still a helluva lit more expensive than it was four years ago. Thing is, wage growth is also up. But you don't hear people talking about that. And we all know Repubs will take care of that little problem in no time.
