2023 D3 Bracketology

Good luck to you and the Utica Pioneers!

I was just pointing out the obvious. Don’t worry about where the Frozen Four will be held - first get there.

Icemutt must be new here. Some of us remember the "Still No Championships" abuse SNC used to take in here several years ago. That all changed once SNC got it done and then did it several times. Utica has yet to learn that lesson. Entitled without having earned it yet.

Enjoyed reading all of the posts speculating on the NCAA bracket , but glad to have the real bracket announced today. After watching parts of the league tournament finals, there are quite a few teams that could pull this off.

This is definitely a more wide open year than most others. Realistically, there's 4-5 teams I could see who could win it all. That's the beauty of this tournament

The only downside of the selections theses days, NO MORE "My Team Got Screwed Thread" LOL... Gotta admit that was always good for 50 plus posts !!

Don’t tell that to the women’s side. People up in arms that nescac got 4 teams in. The nescac went 50-8-4 in out of conference games. That’s unheard of. They earned it.

That is the part of the system that is what it is ! It definitely shows where the strength is. That is WHY Amherst is the#1 women's team and Plattsburgh #2 I really believe if Amherst would have lost the NESCAC championship game they would still be #1.

Given what they did on the women's side with the potential of the flight in the QF round, I don't know how this isn't the bracket. Potential Bowdoin to Hobart game sneaks just inside the 500 miles at 487. Adrian to Point same thing... 490 miles.

First Round

UNE at Plymouth
Augsburg at Stevens Point
Norwich at Plattsburgh
Bowdoin at Curry

Quarterfinals

Plymouth/UNE winner at Utica
Point/Augsburg winner at Adrian
Platty/Norwich winner at Endicott
Curry/Bowdoin winner at Hobart

Semifinals

Plymouth/UNE/Utica winner vs. Point/Augsburg/Adrian
Platty/Norwich/Endicott winner vs. Curry/Bowdoin/Hobart

Only have one potential flight in the quarterfinal round and that's only if Augsburg beats Point.

1 minimum flight total, 2 maximum in this scenario as long as the FF is in the East, which it's supposed to be.

In addition, the first round only has one potential overnight hotel bill for the western game at a distance of 216 miles. The other three are probably bus to and back day of game at 81, 99, and 144 miles.

As an Endicott alum, I wish we had stayed below Hobart as I’d much rather play Curry (again) or Bowdoin at home than Plattsburgh or Norwich (who already beat us).

Obviously, I’ll take the opportunity to win a home game to get to the Frozen Four for the first time.

This is set up to be a great tournament . I am mixed on Hobart getting a first round bye ,as I hope they don't lose their edge by having the week off. They win when they come out with great intensity at first drop and take a quick lead. However ,every team in this field can be a dangerous opponent, so glad Hobart will have one fewer. If Hobart makes it( we have won the last 2 NCAA games at the Cooler, but lost the prior 3),I hope the semis stay in the East , but if it comes down to beating Adrian on their ice (sine the Cooler is way too cool for the semis), that would be a special game after last year's loss. Good luck to all.
