So I have a bracket done assuming when Utica's win goes in, they will stay above Endicott in PWR...and there's going to be some angry Utica fans when they see who gets the byes
Oh, come on......we are all reasonable fans....well, most of us are reasonable fans.....ok, some of us are reasonable.....maybe.
First Round
UNE at Plymouth
Augsburg at Stevens Point
Norwich at Plattsburgh
NESCAC at Curry
Quarterfinals
Plymouth/UNE winner at Utica
Point/Augsburg winner at Adrian
Platty/Norwich winner at Endicott
Curry/NESCAC winner at Hobart
Semifinals
Plymouth/UNE/Utica winner vs. Point/Augsburg/Adrian
Platty/Norwich/Endicott winner vs. Curry/NESCAC/Hobart
Only have one potential flight in the quarterfinal round and that's only if Augsburg beats Point.
1 minimum flight total, 2 maximum in this scenario as long as the FF is in the East, which it's supposed to be.
So the bracket I created follows the 500 mile rule throughout, instead of maintaining the most bracket integrity, so I have:
CCC: Endicott (T-1)
MASCAC: Plymouth State (7)
MIAC: Augsburg (22)
NCHA: Adrian (T-3)
NEHC: Hobart (T-3*)
NESCAC: Bowdoin/Williams (34/48)
SUNYAC: Plattsburgh (6)
UCHC: Utica (T-1*)
WIAC: Stevens Point (8)
At-Large:
Curry (5)
UNE (9)
Norwich (10)
First Round:
Bowdoin/Williams @ Utica
Norwich @ Endicott
Plymouth State @ Curry
UNE @ Plattsburgh
Quarterfinals:
UNE/Plattsburgh @ Bowdoin/Williams/Utica
Plymouth State/Curry @ Norwich/Endicott
Adrian @ Hobart
Augsburg @ Stevens Point
This bracket could also very easily be it. It all comes down to how much the NCAA/committee is willing to fight and potentially risk two flights vs. one. In the past, Pioneer's scenario has more often times than not been what has happened.
I'm betting on the Prez's bracket. I never bought into the idea of all first round games involving only teams east of interstate 91.
Don't both brackets have one "for certain" flight and one "possible" flight? I base that on the assumption that the semis and final will be more than 500 miles from Adrian.
And with the final score input into the system, the Frozen Four hosting priority list is:
Utica
Endicott
Hobart
Adrian
Curry
Plattsburgh
Plymouth State
UW-Stevens Point
UNE
Norwich
Augsburg
NESCAC winner
You can cross Hobart and Curry off that list for sure as their facilities won't meet the standards.
I'm still curious if they'll deem Endicott worthy and who knows what is going on with Utica with the AHL conflicts.
I'm also 95 percent sure that it's supposed to be "highest remaining seed from the East" this year, which would theorectically take Adrian, Point and Augsburg off the list.
I think the real list is:
Utica (maybe?)
Endicott (dicey at best)
Plattsburgh (first no doubt about it they can do it no problem)
Plymouth State (maybe?)
UNE (maybe?)
Norwich (second no doubt about it they can do it)
I went to NCAA.Com and cannot find anything on the selection show. Anybody know when?
I've heard bits and pieces of the Utica plan. I'm not going to comment on it because I don't know every detail, but I can say that they are going to do whatever it takes to keep it in Utica
Does the secret plan involve winning a first round and/or quarterfinal game?
