2023 D3 Bracketology

I'm not disagreeng with it. I just find it interesting.

I am disagreeing with your last statement. My pick to win it all is Hobart. Heck, I'm not even convinced Utica will get by UNE...

I'm not convinced any of the byes will make the final four yet.

UNE has already proven they know how to win at the Aud
Augsburg already beat Adrian this year (in a shootout)
I don't think it would be much of a surprise to see Plattsburgh or Norwich beat Endicott
Same with Curry over Hobart.

As an SNC fan I've learned over the years that you should never underestimate the Auggies.

Adrian is beatable on an off night, but they have a scary good offense when they are rolling.

The potential matchup I’m most excited about is Point traveling to Adrian. There is some heat there - to the point that Tyler Krueger vowed to never schedule Adrian again. To be fair, Adrian is a different team than they were 5 years ago.

When push comes to shove, I wouldn't be surprised to see the same old Adrian.

Weren’t they perhaps the least penalized team in the NCHA this season?

Krug seems different too (although I’m watching online, not in person.)

But I hear ya, it wasn’t that long ago and old habits die hard!

I think over the last five years Coach Krug and the Adrian program have grown a lot...weird they ended up winning a national championship after that.

This is set up to be a great tournament . I am mixed on Hobart getting a first round bye ,as I hope they don't lose their edge by having the week off. They win when they come out with great intensity at first drop and take a quick lead. However ,every team in this field can be a dangerous opponent, so glad Hobart will have one fewer. If Hobart makes it( we have won the last 2 NCAA games at the Cooler, but lost the prior 3),I hope the semis stay in the East , but if it comes down to beating Adrian on their ice (sine the Cooler is way too cool for the semis), that would be a special game after last year's loss. Good luck to all.

Adrian's rink seats 500. Doesn't that disqualify them from hosting the finals?

It seats 500, but I believe there was 1100 there on Saturday for the NCHA championship. It's nice, but small.

Plus, I thought it was most likely going to be an Eastern campus site this year, right?

Hobart played @ Adrian last year in the second round and the attendance was 1247. By the way, Hobart does not charge for any sporting events on campus, so if you look for attendance it's just a guess or sometimes they put in 0. For NCAA games at the Cooler they have had just over 1000 paid in a couple of cases....although the student's cheeks( the face ones,I think, although the visiting players have accused students of exhibiting other parts of the anatomy) were pressed up on the glass most of the game...lol....The Cooler is unique.

The SOS data I am referring to is in the RPI data table...the far right columns have the SOS and SOS ranking.

Thank you. This old goat sometimes struggles to find stuff on the intraweb.

And, as I expected, Utica's SOS was bad... As in, the worst in the top 18 or so.

I don't grasp why they're a #1 seed, having seen that, but the PW is a flawed metric. Pretty sure that a better metric (the KRACH) would have placed them behind Hobart, Endicott, and possibly even Adrian.

Been there many times. The inside-snow was indeed novel. :p

My gripe with the place was that there were very few vantage points to see the ice.

I hate like Hell to agree with you, but I do. Despite Landsberger's .924 S%, he doesn't really pass the eye-test IMO.

If I had to bet my life, I'd go with either Hobart or Adrian.
