Travel 4: All Around the World Same Song

Be safe everyone. I have no interest in flying anywhere, or cruising anywhere. This administration is destroying everything.

Taking my wife to Asheville for her birthday in a couple of weeks (though she does not know the destination yet). Yes, we're flying (into GSP).

I'm driving down there this weekend to see my parents.
Been through Asheville a handful of times but not experienced it. I felt connected in my youth, though, when I first read Look Homeward Angel. What other way is there for a prairie hayseed to connect?

Has to be a beautiful time of year to be there.

Flying is fine, especially on the major airlines. It's still the safest mode of transport by far. Just flew to Vegas last weekend, wife and I have our big Korea trip starting Saturday, airports were plenty busy and without excess delays.

Love Korea! We were there last August and thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Great people, great food, plenty to see and do.

Have fun man!!
Did a quick stop in Seoul last April. Girl and girl wanted to see that old fort area where woman and man rented traditional outfits to walk around. Rather interesting. Restaurants are awesome.👍🏾👍🏾

We went there also - this is part of the same grounds:

I mean a plane engine started on fire the other day...and its not like we havent had a lot of issues in the first 100 days.

I fly next week to NoLa. Not really worried...just wish this stuff stopped happening right before I fly ;)

Korea was amazing, and just highlights the shortcomings of the US in so many ways. Food was amazing and cheap, easy to get around, felt completely safe even in a couple of sketchier areas, saw some absolutely awe-inspiring places (Garden of Morning Calm is hands down the best botanical garden I've ever been too, and it's not even close), and all around had a great time.

The stark comparison upon returning to the US was hilarious. 3- hour layover in MSP wound up being 90 minutes to get through customs, 30 minutes to find a restaurant that still had food that could be served relatively quickly (630 pm, so not exactly an unusual hour to seek dinner even on a Sunday) before settling for an overpriced bagel from Starbucks, and then a 20-minute walk through an airport with lots of barricaded sections supposedly undergoing renovation.

And good lord was not having to tip glorious. Raise the minimum wage to $15/hr uniformly and kill all tips immediately. Please.

$15 won't be enough to kill tips you are nuts...agreed though. To kill toss you need a living wage as minimum.

And MSP is always doing renovation but is usually quite fast.

Korea is probably the only Asian place i would consider based on what I hear. Cool writeup!

I could give dozens of reasons for visiting Thailand and Philippines alone, not to mention Taiwan, Vietnam, and heck we very much enjoyed Myanmar.

As having visited all of them (and Korea) just trying to envision issues with those places that wouldn't also exist in Korea, but hey to each their own.

I fell in love with Macau.

Only spent one day in Hong Kong, so can't say much there, other than it's a very big, crowded city. :)

Definitely want to do Thailand one day, and probably Singapore (expensive, though). I often think about the Philippines, but I don't seemed as drawn to it. I certainly wouldn't mind trying Korea -- like you, my Uncle really enjoyed his business trips there.

I spent three weeks in Japan for work a long, long time ago. Loved it. Especially since I wasn't paying for it. LOL

You may be able to go to the Riviera of the Middle East in about 20 years. As soon as the Palestinians are all gone and Dump builds all his new hotels.
