I'm not sure how the Mexican sides take it. I think it's underappreciated by the fans of MLS clubs, unfortunately. Not only does the CCL indicate supremacy at the club level of CONCACAF, it also provides entry into the Club World Cup and a possible match against either the Copa Lib champion or the UEFA champion.A question for those more in tune to CONCACAF...How important is the Champions League? It certainly seems less prestigious, perhaps significantly less prestigious, than the Mexican or MLS championships. Is it prestigious at all?
Not as many as probably should, considering it's something like the second oldest club competition in the world. While I'm at it, does anybody care about the Open Cup?
I think the Open Cup is convoluted as to who's in it. They should just what the FA does and open it up to all teams. I go through the tourney tree and all teams are not qualified. It doesn't make sense.

You could regionalize it and then insert the MLS and USL teams in later rounds like they do with the EPL and Championship clubs. I just think it should be a true OPEN Cup.
The Open Cup is open to all. MLS teams qualify either based on in-season finish from the prior year, or based on play-in games against the other MLS teams.
That's the one thing I don't like about the USOC. Why have MLS teams play in against other MLS teams?
I also dislike the fact that you can bid for home games. Should be a straight draw.
I don't mind MLS teams playing in against themselves, because that leads to some fun matchups against USL teams. More MLS v MLS isn't compelling, really.
And you can bid for home games because the economics of the tournament requires it.
Schedule congestion is a part of it as well, with 30 league games, teams in the CCL, SuperLiga, the World Cup this year, whatever international duty is required in others, friendlies etc.I think the goal is to get a manageable "round" structure, and I suspect that travel cost issues play into it (which is something I suspect is at least an order of magnitude more significant for us than it is for the FA).
Villa and Rapid Vienna end in a 1-1 draw, which isn't a bad result considering they were playing on the road with a majority-youngster lineup.
well, we got a goal and you are right, they were young out there...why did they bring on Weimann and replace him 10 minutes later? Injury?
Yeah, I was watching illegally and they made a big to-do about how he is from Vienna and then about seven minutes later, they're going into a corner and someone gets his ankle bad. Didn't see it directly, but he had to be stretchered off.
