Wcha 24 25

Certainly a better day for the bottom of the WCHA. Hats off to #24 for Minnesota State who redeemed herself from the miss in overtime last night and helped the landcows win against that other team today. Also great game by SCSU today with the win against the tunnelers. And as I write this the tommy bahamas are trailing the sinners 3-2 early in the 3rd period.

And the BADgers avoid the upset bug. I thought the Tommies played pretty well all things considered. When they scored to get to 3-2, the head coach slammed the glass right in front of me and scored to poop out of me. I didn't realize the assistant coach, Marty Sertich, was Marty Sertich, the CC player and Hobey Baker winner. He's not man of much physical stature and nary said a word on the bench while running the D.

besides Retro Skating Goldy, Beavers all the way. Plain Wisconsin W? meh. Regular OSU logo? boring.

I think retro skating goldy is the coolest, in a league of its own.

the Wisconsin W is boring and understated but reflective of all the winning and Johnson’s vibe. In a future era I hope they add a fun 3rd jersey.

I caved and bought the wcha package the other day. The Mavs have beautiful colors and I like the jacket their head coach rocks.

Wcha looks fun this year with 5! Teams having head coaches with 3 years or less at the helm. Kind of a new era. While I see the big ten teams as remaining your top three it’s cool to see teams take points from them here and there and for the first time ever I’m interested in watching the bottom 4 play against each other.

Johnson has no control over the motion W. It is an improvement over the block W by Alvarez. The UW women have had some interesting 3rd jerseys.

As a player, she didn't lose in her last 13 games versus Wisconsin, and she was a captain for the last 9 of those. She likely still gets up for games when looking at those uniforms.

Yeah between periods I googled her on elite prospects since I knew nothing about her and saw she was a rodent (a captain no less) and when she played. Then I looked up at the banners and saw she was one of THOSE rodents. What small shred of empathy I had for her situation vanished.

At least their uniforms are the school colors. One team rolls out black ones and their school colors are grey and red.
That happens a lot. GWH's first road jerseys were largely black with maroon, gold, and gray accents. Football teams have a lot of different jerseys for few games, just so they can push more gear to boosters.

Yes and I don't like it. The uni's the Oregon Ducks trot out for FB are just as big a joke that other team's black ones. I don't mind a rare homage to the past like the Packers did for the Acme Packers Navy and Gold, but it has to be rare, not every other week.

Interesting week of matchups after a big last weekend on upsets. I still can't believe MSU was a flubbed OT shot at an open net away from sweeping that other team. OMG Sierra would have lost his mind. They are only 4 pits clear of 4th place and have played 2 more games than the MN teams.

UW at Maine
Tommies vs Clarkson PSU Merrimack
Vermont at UMD
St. Cloud at Union
MSU at Dartmouth

Looks like a big weekend for the league in the W column. Hopefully the Tommies can get 1 W.

Crowell's Dartmouth team is 0-10. Outscored 30 to 10. PP 13% PK 70% I guess the cupboard was kinda bare.

They are going to have a new alternate jersey for the outdoor game at Wrigley Field. They have not revealed what they will look like.

Looking at 'standings points lost' (I hope I have this right):

Wisconsin: minus 3 points
Duluth: minus 13 points
Minnesota: minus 15 points
Ohio State: minus 17 points
St Cloud: minus 19 points.

(With Duluth and St Cloud playing one another to wrap up their 'first half'.)

That other team might be on the road in the first round LOL.

Jeepers they took Clarkson to overtime after a big third period to come back. Wow..

And quite a heartbreaker with Clarkson scoring with a sliver of time left, and to my biased eye (and a poor camera angle), by slamming everybody plus the puck into the goalie and cage, ending with a party against the back wall with Clarkson doing the celebrating.

Interesting. I'd like to see a replay.
