It was nowhere near as 'easy' as 5-1 makes it look. Duluth had chances, but missed the net or had bad bounces or McNaughton got the job done. Wisconsin contolled but it wasn't all that 'comfortable'.

Msu home n home Tommie's > Tommies sweep. Impressive.
St. Cloud at BSU > St. Cloud not so much slam dunk but a tight sweep.
UM at that other team > Loss and tie for the Tunnelers, sog were pretty even.
UMD at UW > tighter than the scores indicate, but the scores are all that really count.
I was very impressed with UMD. I was only able to attend game one and it was a pleasure watching 2 more evenly matched teams. The game had great flow and there was not a lot of shooting galleries for either team, a lot of fun transition hockey. UW's depth was really the difference.
Schuler coached hard, she was really giving a lot of feedback to the players on the bench. A completely different style than here old boss and a different style than any head coach that I can recall. At the end of the period, she'd meet with the Captains on the bench briefly before going into the lockerroom. That was interesting, she was holding up the Zamboni however. I thought UMD played a cleaner game too, less nastiness.

Appreciate the input on the series with UMD having not seen the streams of the games. The sinners are so good this year I'm not sure who is going to beat them. Certainly not the tunnelers.

Interestingly UW scored 13 goals against a pretty stingy defensive team and none them were scored by Simms or OB. Certainly UW will lose some games, it just can't be the last one.

More ranked match-ups this weekend.
Tommies at UMD. UMD is not deep scoring-wise and UW killed them in transition, but the Tommies are over-matched.
That Other Team at St. Cloud. A little surprised St. Cloud didn't dispatch the Beavs with more ease, the other team had a couple tight ones with the tunnelers. St. Cloud is always a danger to win.
Woodsters at BSU. This is an interesting match-up.
BADgers at Tunnelers. Badgers did give up a decent amount of shots to the 1 line wonder-team and had some sloppy D blue-line puck transition management. Sounds like Frosty and MJ are going off of script and playing their 4 lines more regularly than we are used to seeing.
The only team with a 2 win guarantee this weekend is UMD.
The following Tuesday that other team has a Tuesday match-up with Mercyhurst. Must be nice to get the practice with another team.

I had to double- and triple check when I saw this at the UW web page, but the Saturday game between Minnesota and Wisconsin is going to be televised on regular BTN!?! Not BTN-Plus, the regular channel.
In the middle of a Saturday afternoon in the middle of October, BTN is televising women's hockey and not football!! Holy cow!

OSU ties the Huskies in regulation and loses the shootout. St. Cloud scored two powerplay goals in this game.

By the end of the year, of course everyone will have played the same number of games, and telling what's what in the standings is readily apparent. But along the way it can be as meaningful, if not more, to watch standings points lost as points won.
In the last three years, the team that won the WCHA regular season lost just 8 points in 2024, 14 lost in 2023, and 16 lost in 2022; essentially, an average of 13.
Already, Ohio State has lost 9 points, more than they lost all of last year. Minnesota has lost 11. (Duluth 6, St Cloud 4)

UMD sweeps 3-0 and 2-0, shots were quite in UMD's favor, but I was expecting a bigger margin.
The Other Team wins easily game 1 and soils themselves in game 2 blowing 2-0 and a 3-2 leads and loses the shootout.
BSU beats and ties the Woodsters, outshooting them handily. The tied game was a back and forth scoring affair.
BADgers crush Tunnelers game one and then rip the heart out their chest in game 2 coming back from a 3-0 deficit late in the 2nd period into the 3rd.
This week....
Tuesday an on paper not so bad ranked 15 Mercyhurst travels to that other team......interesting.
BSU at UW. There won't be much flow in this series.

That other team vs 12PSU or 11Cornell.
Not so dramatic home n homes, ranked team should take care of business.

Nice try there Timmay to create some juice...but not dice. The score was a semi respectable 5-1, shots were 20 to 1 after 1 period and finished at 47/15. That other team took the foot off the gas, the shots in the 3rd were 10-6.

Recap....BSU at UW. There won't be much flow in this series. --> There was a decent amount of flow, BSU is getting quicker. They also spent a lot of time in the D zone and they did a great job clogging everything up - played with great discipline. They also seemed to have a lot of positivity and fun on the bench. It was noticeable.

WCHA recruiting update...
That other team gets a commitment from Canadian Hayley McDonald for 26. Very good pickup for slOwSU as they step it up to try to keep pace with the sinners recruiting. The losers in this are the tunnelers.

Darn roster limit sizes.......LOL. The BADgers need Frosty to land just enough blue chippahs to weaken that other team and make his own team just almost good enough. The balance this season seems pretty good from my perspective, though I'll know for sure in 2 weeks.

WOW UMD, MTC and that other team lost points to Kato, BSU and tTommies. Watts the heck is going on? WI and St. Cloud were very even on shots, but not on the scores. Of course UW killing 5 penalties in each game suppressed their SOG total and enhanced St. Cloud's.
This week a break with the Rivalry Series going on. Thank goodness the league was wise enough not to schedule much this week. All we have is the Tommies and the Lindy's.
The games after the break are HHHUUUUGGGEEEEE with UW at that other team and MTC at UMD. A wcha final 4 preview weekend?

Amazingly (or maybe not) the WCHA page has their own standings wrong (They also have a couple of shootout results wrong on the team schedule pages).
USCHO, I think, has the correct point totals.
