The Beavers visit Mankato. Any predictions on the scores?
I predict that there won't be a lot of them.

You didn't quite dig the sarcastic swipe there haha.
You post in two types: Badger obsessions; sarcastic swipes. As such, the latter don't merit all that much reaction/comment, but the meaning isn't all that elusive.

BSU had 12 and 13 shots while allowing 26 and 29 to the 6th place team in the league. It's safe to say they are not going to be fighting for anything but 7th or 8th place.

Also, 5th place St. Cloud is only 2 pts up on Kato and have scored 13 less goals in the league. Kato could end up in 5th place based on their scoring ability.

Standings

39 UW
28 UMD
27 UM
25 TTSNBN
18 St. Cl
16 MSU
9 St. Th
6 BSU

Well folks, what are things you did not expect that happened the first half of the season?

Well Timmay, I didn't expect the BADgers to have a commanding lead in the standings. I don't want to say it's insurmountable, but it's a HUGE lead. A lot would have to go wrong for a very experienced team for them fall back to the pack. Those Who Shalt Not Be Named being 4th and not within earshot of the BADgers is also a shock.

The Hockey Hall of Fame game will be held on New Years Day in Lakeville, MN. (Lakeville Hasse Arena). It starts at 5:00 and will feature the Bemidji Beavers vs the Golden Gophers. Some may recall the recent past Hall of Fame game when St. Cloud upset the Gophers. I like that they are holding these games at outlying arenas where the stands are filled with enthusiastic hockey fans.
Anyone else going to be there?

If I can work out some time away from family being at the house, I will definitely be there. Wouldn't mind meeting some gopher posters if that could work out.

Rodents overcame a 1-0 deficit with a 3rd period push and won 4-1.

This week it's quite the menagerie of games.

Conference:
TTTSNBN at/vs UW - humungous matchup with both teams coming in cold in game 1 and game 2 in that gross baseball park. Weather does look good. Hopefully the ice is good. Game 1 will be interesting to see which team sakes the rust off faster. Will Muzzy go with the Johnny Cash Uni's again?
MSU at Woodsters

N/C
Cuse at UMD
BSU vs PSU
Brown at Brown - Brown is coming in with a winning record, apparently that is a rarity this deep into the season.
Brown vs BSU
PSU at Tunnelers - trickiest one of the n/c games.

Ahh yes, the Darth Vader uni's. The muzzinator is probably needing some motivational gimmick, so that could be it.

Brown vs Brown as an intrasquad matchup? That could be interesting...

slOwSU is not looking so good but it has not been in game action for longer than some of the other teams.

And if I'm the sinners I don't take the foot off the gas and they should try to put as many pucks in the net as possible...Right up to the final whistle. Bury em.

6-0 for the sinners. Oh to have been a fly on the wall of slOwSU's lockerroom after that debacle. Maybe the muzzinator started throwing sticks around?

I like the way you think lol. They didn't have a shot on goal for like the first 9 minutes of the third period.

U18's are coming up. Here's a quick count for the players committed to wcha teams:

6 TWSNBN
5 UW
4 UM
2 St. Thomas
1 St. Cloud
1 UMD

When was the last time the Beavers scored 4 goals? And lost? They started yesterdays East/West showcase with 3 power play goals. Penn State, leader of the Atlantic conference, won by 6 to 4 thanks to a last second empty net goal. This is a Beaver team being lead by their assistant coach, with the new coach in Finland helping out over there.
The Beavers have really shown some spunk, after giving the Gophers all they could for 2 1/2 periods. What was really sad was to see an empty Ridder arena. The attendance was listed as 100! I saw a couple of Gopher fans, while the rest of the crowd must have been parents or classmates. I wonder how this got marketed. Really a terrible look for the state of hockey.
We will see today how the Beavers handle Brown, who got bounced by the Gophers. Very surprising game from Bemidji. If they win today it will make a statement about the WCHA to back up the national ratings. They may be the WCHA basement dwellers but the Beavers seem to have some bite.

That was a phenomenal display of college hockey. Obviously the ice conditions are a challenge and there was some creative video angles???? and some blown calls by the refs but it was AWESOME! Great third jerseys by both sides.

TWSNBN had cream center stripes???? Is that an old school color? They looked like they were out of a Popeye cartoon. Now I can start calling Muzzy Olive Oyl.

The only 2 league teams not to embarrass themselves Kato and BSU last week. UMD barely beat Cuse 1 game, BADgers let TWSNBN have a great bounceback game after destroying them in game 1, Tunnelers got caved in by PSU.

This week:
Tommy U at Tunnelers. Do the Tunnels try an inanimate object in goal? I've never seen a stat line where the amount of goals is > the amount of saves.
St. Cloud at UMD. Tame dawgs tame wild dawgs.
BSU at TWSNBN. Olive Oyl won't need any spinach.
Kato at UW. This makes me nervous. At least UW has a sour taste to motivate them.

In defense of people not showing up for Bemidji's game on Friday, I'd just say it was a game that started at 1pm on a workday. I did show up (I took the day off work) and was for both that game and their game on Saturday the lead Bemidji cheer leader (I also made a few signs for them). Not a huge alumni base and we were 4-ish hrs away from Bemidji. Can't say I'm too surprised about the turn out but also there was definitely more than 100 people at that game, I'd guess about 350-400 on the high end.

I still maintain that Bemidji got screwed vs. PSU on two of the PSU goals. Specifically, one came on a very very weak penalty call and one should've been waived as their goalie was sprawled on the ice and looked potentially injured (I think she got the wind knocked out of her).

Bemidji is a good team with the unfortunate distinction of playing in the toughest conference bar none. Everything else being equal, if they were in one of the eastern leagues, I think their record would be much different.

Back the Beavs! Be a BEAVER BELIEVER.
