WCHA 2025-26

Umd practically imploded. They sure do enjoy throwing elbows. Kraemer's heading in the path of little sassy pants.

Two of the holding calls might have been more accurately described as "horse-collar tackles" if it had been football. Clearly, UMD came in looking to play "physical", and I'm fine with that. But there's simply no way a ref doesn't see and call a horse-collar tackle. It's giving away a power play, for no reason. I don't understand that.

Yeah, that first goal was a heck of a doozy there. What a poop job that was.
I don't think you got my point. Do you think 3 goals on 17 shots is AC or Olympic goaltending? You have to look at the whole body of work and not pick and choose a particular game or highlight one particular goal. Is MJ going to make a change tomorrow. My guess is no because he knows what he has. UMD does also. Two good goalies that will lead their teams over the course of the season even though they may have an off game once in a while.

Not sure what you are getting at. UMD scoring 3 on McNaughton vs Atlantic Hockey's Mercyhurst scoring 3 and 3 against Gascon aren't an equal comparo due to the quality of the teams.

There were holding penalties called, and powerplays resulted, right?

What do you think the calls should have been?

Missing the point.

Yes, they were holds. Yes, they were called. Yes, they resulted in power plays.

But they were SO obvious, and SO pointless. Almost like UMD took the penalties intentionally, to show how "tough" they were, or some such. It wasn't like they were preventing a breakaway, or doing it for some other "it was my only option" reason. They just reached up and tackled the Badger skater. Pointless.

I did miss the point, sorry. When I first read it, I thought you were criticizing the officials. I see now you were criticizing the UMD player(s).

UMtc St Cl home n home - Rodents sweep, rather convincing.
BSU at THSNBN - Shockingly TWSNBN gave BSU an opportunity to win or at least tie game 2. Muzzy was AWOL apparently.
St. T at Kato - Splitsville. Game 1 shots were 27/26 MSU, game 2 27/15 MSU
UMd at UW - UW tried to give game 1 to UMd, but their overly physical bit them at the end of the game, and also in game 2.

This week:

THSNBN at Umtc - Juicy!
Tommiegirls at St. Cloud - Can the Tommiegirls bury St. Cloud a little deeper?
Umm at Umd - Umm should pack a lot of ice and practice on PP heavily prior.
UW - Vermont - Hockey is fun I.
UW - Union/St. Anselm - Hockey is fun II.

Okay, a question for any St. Thomas insider...

With the new arena opening next weekend, will they continue to have Phil Collins' In the Air Tonight played in the latter portion of the 2nd intermission so that the drum break hits right at the 1-minute mark when the Tommies come out for the third period? Once I figured out what was going on, I thought that was a cool effect.

Also has UST done that for their men as well? Just curious on that one.

This is some video I'll have to see later on. But the box score for Minn vs Ohio today shows four game misconduct penalties for Minn and five for Ohio State!

From the the USCHO box they had coincidental roughing calls with three seconds to go and then nine players getting 10 minute misconducts
on the face-off to end the game. Sunday hockey.

BTW: "happy" birthday Nadine Muzerall!

Wow, that was really something. Not something I want to see in women's hockey.
I've noticed, not just OSU but other teams really love going after Emma Kreisz. Now, I've had occasion to meet her a number of times and she's very soft-spoken and polite and it's always nice to practice my very rusty Hungarian when I can.

I assume it's because she's kinda small that they think she's an easy target and given what was happening to her was ~10 feet from me, I was nothing short of apoplectic.

Where do you sit Sam? I can't make any Saturday games because of my work, but I am behind the announcer and the Gopher penalty box when I do attend the games.

Does anyone here read lips? Because I think I can get a couple of the words that Muzerall shouts out (at the refs?) when they show her just after Sloane Mathews gets her 'delay of game' penalty, 4:55 remaining in the 2nd period. LOL! But I'd appreciate knowing that whole sentence/exchange.

8 Minnesota being 3rd person in after Kreisz went down seems to ignite the game ending melee, or be the gas for an already lit match. Crosschecks to the back of the head, woof. Perhaps the whole game was out of hand.

Hardly surprised this happened. Nothing that will help either team win a national championship.

If you’re Minnesota I guess you’re happy with a split but embarrassing seeing the coaches trying to control the players going nuts at the end. A far worse look than not getting Pohl. OSU, I guess still figuring out what they have this year. Discipline helped them win their national championships and it looks like they are losing their grip on that.

You wonder when more stars that want big ten will start choosing Penn State.
