Two of the holding calls might have been more accurately described as "horse-collar tackles" if it had been football. Clearly, UMD came in looking to play "physical", and I'm fine with that. But there's simply no way a ref doesn't see and call a horse-collar tackle. It's giving away a power play, for no reason. I don't understand that.Umd practically imploded. They sure do enjoy throwing elbows. Kraemer's heading in the path of little sassy pants.
I don't think you got my point. Do you think 3 goals on 17 shots is AC or Olympic goaltending? You have to look at the whole body of work and not pick and choose a particular game or highlight one particular goal. Is MJ going to make a change tomorrow. My guess is no because he knows what he has. UMD does also. Two good goalies that will lead their teams over the course of the season even though they may have an off game once in a while.Yeah, that first goal was a heck of a doozy there. What a poop job that was.
That was very evident in the Tunneler/SCSU matchup as well. SCSU tried their best to slow down the Tunneler's attack. It worked to some degree.Clearly, UMD came in looking to play "physical", and I'm fine with that.
Not sure what you are getting at. UMD scoring 3 on McNaughton vs Atlantic Hockey's Mercyhurst scoring 3 and 3 against Gascon aren't an equal comparo due to the quality of the teams.I don't think you got my point. There were holding penalties called, and powerplays resulted, right? Two of the holding calls might have been more accurately described as "horse-collar tackles" if it had been football. Missing the point. There were holding penalties called, and powerplays resulted, right?
What do you think the calls should have been?
I did miss the point, sorry. When I first read it, I thought you were criticizing the officials. I see now you were criticizing the UMD player(s).Missing the point.
Yes, they were holds. Yes, they were called. Yes, they resulted in power plays.
But they were SO obvious, and SO pointless. Almost like UMD took the penalties intentionally, to show how "tough" they were, or some such. It wasn't like they were preventing a breakaway, or doing it for some other "it was my only option" reason. They just reached up and tackled the Badger skater. Pointless.
