Really great win, big one to grab. Fowler had words for them all game, was great to see him so engaged. I projected a split going in and now I really hope I can be wrong!
That hit on Holt where the guy cross checked him and hit his head off the Lowell bench was not called. Ben was up on the dasher hollering and swearing at the official. Was worried he might get a bench minor.
Brazeale had a great game tonight. I wanted him to score on that breakaway. Good stuff from him. Lots of puck lugging and helping the lines out getting the puck deep.
Mitton was flying tonight. One of the better games I’ve seen from him. He used his speed a lot going by their d men and turning them. Almost scored a goal on one where he got by their d man and cut it up going across the goal mouth.
I thought Maine got stronger as the game went on. One thing Lowell was successful at was pressuring the points. There were several times they were a whisker from generating breakaways. Sometimes our D men need to just chip it down deep instead of cross ice d to d out at the blue line. If there is one thing I’ve seen other teams not enjoy it is having to battle our guys on the boards in their own end. You could see the Lowell defensemen wearing down mid way through the 3rd.
Boija was fantastic as usual. The stop on that breakaway was huge.
Barr’s ability to get the most out of each skater is 1st rate. Hustle and the “go get ‘em” style will beat a team full of blue chippers most nights. I love how there is always a forward peeling back to the blue line to replace a Dmam going to the net. It says alot about the quality of practices Barr runs and the players bring what they learned to the games.
Not much space on the ice for either team. Discipline to the systems by both teams. Really like the play by 3rd and 4th lines. Neimo lost the puck off his stick late in 2nd, was almost in the crease. Really would have liked to see him score there. Boija was a stud once again. The end of the game you could see how frustrated Lowell was. No PP for Maine was a bit of a stretch but............ Should be a battle once again, need to keep lowell from jumping them early.
Maine has found their physical play groove, keep it rolling. Again that renwick line punished them. The whole team wore lowell down. That 6 on 4 at the end Lowell was just done maine made a short handed empty netter look easy.
