University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Maine now at 6th in pairwise.

As usual, your post didn’t age well.

It is still a helI of an accomplishment…exactly one nhl recruit, the best returning scorer in a huge rut and the heart and soul of the team out with a broken ankle

Definitely the most poised and confident game I’ve seen from this team of the season. Didn’t get rattled by all the extracurricular stuff and played tough in the third to get the split.

Refreshing to see them play that third period like a team that knew they could hang with one of the best in the nation as opposed to last night where they played the whole third on their heels.

Have a feeling that won’t be the last time we see Denver this season.

That was a great hockey game. Denver is by far the best team i have seen at the alfond this year

Denver looked better than BC to me. Scary fast, incredible goaltending.

Still, if there was any justice in this world, Maine would have done no worse than a tie and a win.

Having said that, the ship is righted and on we go. It won't be easy down the stretch, but I'm feeling a lot better about things as of now.

That was a very complete game against an elite opponent. There were long stretches, especially in the second period, where Maine had DU completely pinned in their defensive zone. Shots at one point were 31-5 for Maine. Was very happy to see them not give up another late goal, I didn't think DU had any really great chances in the final minutes but I was still nervous regardless.

In the end, this weekend was a success. A split in the W/L column, and Maine was clearly the better team in the W and played well enough that they could have won in the L. I'm happy with it.

Chabrier deserves credit. He got two assists tonight and had 4 blocked shots. On the weekend he had 8 blocked shots, that is huge and a great example of a guy sacrificing body for the team. He only had one flub up last night where he turned the puck over that I can remember. What a great weekend for him overall. More of that please!

Coach Barr: https://youtu.be/0-v4VqBQcdE?si=wL3uManc-IRYZK1H

Says all guys played well tonight. Also mentions Nobes played well and probably deserves more playing time.

Captain Breazeale: https://youtube.com/shorts/hdRBsUSVKXo?si=_L7OiFRS-jWHGMiC

Says he thought all guys in line up did better job playing heavy tonight on both ends.

Assistant Captain Scott: https://youtube.com/shorts/2utGdtZ-3lg?si=etoMNHSD2oncX_oe

Says they were all hacking and whacking, whatever it takes to get it in the net. :D

Didn't see the game last night, was at Bob Marley show in Ellsworth. My face hurt I was laughing so hard . The guy is crazy. Was checking my phone though and was happy when I saw a W. Its Great to be able to watch game this morning. Denver will be there at end of season so its great to see Maine could play with them. DU goalie is a stud, he doesn't seem to make any wasted movements.

Fowler is a dink :) he was jawing and being a pest after the whistle all game long, 3rd and 4th lines were making sure they were in someones face but also keeping puck in DUs zone. Be interesting to see how long last nights lines and D pairings will stay together?

On to Hockey East

Funny thing is that Maine looked just as good. Difference between BC and Denver is they close down your attack space immediately. They also do a great job of entering through the middle of the ice which can be difficult to defend on the offensive side. Also..why hasn't Matt Davis been drafted? If not for him last night it would be have been 6 to 1 Maine

Great win to get this team back on track. I think that’s the best they’ve played all year.

Shoutout to Lesakowski and Dalton for being ready. I thought they played great, same with Nobes. I think Antonacci and Arnott need to sit for a bit and let these guys have their chance.

4th line was awesome, Calafiore showing some speed I haven’t seen before. Niemo showing grit along the walls and Fowler just always causing trouble.

Big series this weekend at Lowell, not one I circled when the season started but man am I looking forward to it now.

I imagine Fowler gets some shit this weekend at Lowell. I believe he will give it back also :)

Davis is overage for the Draft, he should cash in as unrestricted free agent once he leaves DU though.

Just plain wow, er WOW. Cannot find a thing to complain about this performance. Impressive hardly describes their effort and tenacity. Yes they can play the best and beat them and it didnt even take an out-of-this world goalie to bail them out. Booyaah was as good as he needed to be.

Maine stays at #7 in the polls and #6 in the pairwise. Lowell improved to #8 in the polls and #8 in the pairwise.

Another top 10 match up this weekend. Still quite a bit of tickets left. https://tsongascenter.evenue.net/eve...ual-home-games

Should be a great series.

Heading down for the friday game! Looks like the bad weather is staying south.
Big game, the boys should be ready, HE points are precious.
