UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

I used to (and still do) love that chant. :)

For what it's worth, while Carr did play very well this weekend, when I saw the results from other games I knew he had no chance. Not in the least bit surprising that any team that sweeps the #1 team in the country while giving up just 2 goals in the 2 games ... yep, he belongs. And considering that Rawlings only gave up 3 at the #2 team in the country in two games ... it's understandable.

The Wilson not winning Rookie of the Month makes a lot less sense than this one does.

Yeah, it is a fantastic chant, but after associates of more than one team were for the disbanding of Lowell hockey, it turned from Hockey East is fixed to a vast, league wide conspiracy.

Anywho, let's hope the team can go get 2 or 3 points this weekend and set themselves up for a good second half.

Tough tough weekend coming up ... BC for obvious reasons, but NU has won 5 in a row themselves by a combined 24-7. Four of those games were on the road and three involved two different trips out west.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Were all of you too young to cheer "Hockey East is Fixed!!!"? If you start with that premise you should be fine.

Was strongly considering that when Gravallese missed an obvious penalty in the Lowell offensive zone in the 3rd period on Friday. (I thought Gravallese was only supposed to make bad calls against the Boston teams) I think the whole stadium heard the Bull-S...t loud and clear from the students. While that particular chant is overly used, it was well deserved then.

there were missed and bad calls on both teams, I thought, other than the pathetic linesmen, who rightfully got berated after the game, the officiating was good on Friday, one of the better called games (both ways) I've seen so far this year.

Yup definitely calls going both ways, UML got a few non calls... I just remember that one in particular as it was right around the 2 PPs UNH got in the third and Gravallese was staring right at the action when it happened.

It is a boring chant. Overused and basically ignored as such. More fun to do something unique like chant Stooo-pid or the like.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Sorry les, I know you told me to drop it. And I was planning to do, but this just brightened my day this morning while at the dentist for a root canal and had to come over to share. Saw this on This Week In Disrespect (which, really, please rename this blog that - it's perfect!!)

One particularly clueless BU fan commented that Lowell having beaten BU in their only meeting of the season was the ONLY reason the River Hawks cracked the top-20.

Now....I'll give you that I am not as specifically hockey savvy as some of you. But I've been following the sport for a very long time and I know quite a bit more than you think I do. Here is what I posted:

Not moot at all, in fact annihilating BU is one of many reasons Lowell is at #18 and not still on the outside looking in. How about you beat a few more top 5 ranked teams and then start you Rodney Dangerfield act.

You may not think I know much about hockey, but I do have eyes and reading comprehension skills as part of my background. Now, I can see where you might have gotten confused. Both "one" and "ONLY" start with an "o" and an "n". The "y" is part of the word "many" and if you're a speed reader, that may be the explanation why you affixed to the end of the "o" and the "n". I don't see a letter "l" though. That's the part that perplexes me.

I will commend you for your superb creative writing skills because everyone knows Coach Parker has enough to deal with this season with his own team that he wouldn't have time of day to think about all the dastardly things you're blaming him for. Interesting stuff. I wish he did have these mythological powers, though. Think of the fun things he could accomplish!! You should do a blog entry about that. :)

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Need a favor from someone who's on campus regularly. I picked up a few items to drop in as per the request last week for items for the US Army/Air Force ROTC, etc. But I left them in my car. I can bring them tomorrow if someone is willing to drop them off at one of the drop-boxes on campus?

Monty - If you don't find someone, one of my coworkers collects for the same thing at my office. I can ask her tomorrow if she can still take the items or not. I know she already pulled the collection boxes in my office though.

If you can, that would be great. I'll have them in my car tonight. Great cause, and I'd like to help.

Re: UML 2011/2012 Season Thread

Hopefully WUML has fixed their audio feed. If that doesn't work the game will be on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

bob: Thanks for the info on Comcast. Good stuff.
