UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

i wouldn't go that far.... 7 guys for maine have 20 or more points, another has nineteen, and there are 11 guys with 10 or more points...

the line of house, flynn and nyquist has 42 of the 111 goals scored on the season... in terms of overall point production, they have accounted 109 of the 308 points on the season... so roughly a third of the point production comes from the top line which is not that over the top in the grand scheme of things... what maine has going for them is that 10 players have scored five or more goals and that only three players (all freshman defensemen) have failed to score a goal on the season

Maine's fresh. and soph. classes have to be one of the best in the country. Most of the freshman have made impacts. Diamond is gonna be a good player, he just seems to have a temper and gets himself into trouble sometimes. Mangene i have been impressed with. His overall intensity and play in all three zones make him valuable already. Shemansky is relentless! That kid has some serious upside and has 19pts, i believe that is second in Hockey East for freshman behind DeCosta if not mistaken, solid for a freshman. Klas Leidermark has been the only regular playing freshman that has not really impressed me a whole lot.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

The university just invested MILLIONS in the facility. Marty is gearing up for a senate run 2012. He is not going to have it hang him. He is going to have to go out and find a coach that can make this team respectable. Blaise is a nice guy, but not getting the job done. Teams out of the playoffs don't get their pictures in the paper with the chancellor. Teams that are CONSISTANTLY coached to finish below the median in the conference don't bring in fans, and fans are key to the facility paying its bills.

It's time to invest in the coaching staff. Out with the old, bring in the new. Where are Bob Ware and Ken Rauche when you need them?

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Don't think I've ever seen Blaise that dejected at his team. Almost sad to watch... almost.

Agreed, when I saw the freeze photo of him before playing the interview, it did not look like a flattering picture by any means.

The boys have to play for pride tonight, at this point, that may be all that is left.

What makes you think we'd be able to go out and hire a tier 1 type coach presuming he's available? They won't let us spend that type of money.

I will also say that I don't want to lose McEachern because I can't imagine that having him around isn't a recruiting bonus.

Make a trade with Minnesota. We'll take Lucia and they can have Blaise.

trust me... if we could get that I'd do it in a heartbeat... I think Blaise is making around 170K... Lucia I have to imagine is 400K+... it won't happen.

You're dead wrong about Leidermark. He is a regular on the PK, outstanding defensively, wins 90% of faceoffs he takes, and is rarely out of position. He's the type of guys that does the little, detail things that put his team in a position to win night in-night out.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

The third period without question was the most embarassing period I've witnessed in my 16 years of watching Lowell hockey. Mike Lange doesn't have a catch phrase to describe how badly goals 6, 7 and 8 were put past Hutton.
Some of those goals were almost comical, the puck would take a crazy bounce and then be in the net. Maine wasn't doing anything special, they just played hard and got the puck to the front of the net. I'm not sure why Lowell doesn't do more of that.

That's spot on, if Lowell did more of that we wouldn't be in the bind as we are now.

You are absolutley right, I was talking more about the offensive end of the ice since everyone was talking about all the points the first line gets. He is absolutley a great defensive hockey player. He has a high hockey IQ on the defensive end, just like to see him shoot a little more. He is the type of player Maine always used to have when they had little or no offense. Thats why I like Mangene as well. He hasn't lit up the scoresheet just really like the way he plays.

Blaise.... massive paraphrasing pre-game... Saturday night is tough... if you win friday you might be lackidasical... if you lose friday night you might be doubting yourself...

-----

I might also be run over by a bus when I walk to the CVS. I don't walk around in fear of it though.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Two points... after Friday night I'm still deflated but we escape there and we're onto a weekend series against Providence. Funny thing is usually if we go up to Orono and escape with points I'd be ecstatic.

Still, good effort good win and it should be noted.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

I was kind of hoping to get destoryed tonight so I wouldn't be forced to continue to have hope...

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Congrats to Lowell, dominated Maine from start to finish, completely outplayed Maine, hope we don't see you in the HE playoffs

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

You guys do realize you play a terrible PC team (now eliminated) and an ailing UVM squad to finish off. 3 or 4 wins probably. UML could still get home ice.

I just looked at the standings... 6 points is the difference between 9th (Vermont) and 2nd (BC/Maine). 4 points are a must. 2 points Friday are a must. 2 points Saturday are a must.

Certainly 4 points against PC is a must. The Friars are mathematically eliminated now.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

its good to see uml respond with a win on Saturday after Friday's beating. Its good to see them shut down that first line for Maine. overall its a great win for Lowell. lets hope they can take two from Providence next weekend.
