UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

For those of you going to Orono. All the best!

I went to Alfond back in the early 90's to see Lowell get their arses kicked. The Maine fans were rabid.

As I said in an earlier post, Lowell will get 2 points this weekend,

They stuff you in the corner and behind the glass. It is like being in the glass room at the back of church with the little kids.

Hendrickson's predicting a Maine sweep. All of a sudden, I feel better. :D

Ya know what seems like a really smart, solid coaching move? To NOT start your red hot, top five in the country goalie. Now THAT'S a formula for winning games. Someone please give me a valid reason for this, valid meaning you don't use the word "rotation".

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Maine plays one line most of the time. 95% of their scoring was from that line. besides that line what does maine have?

To be honest I'm not really mad... because its not worth it as I'd probably let out a scream loud enough that they could hear it down by the police station. These guys aren't worth being angry about.

This team should not be like this or even close to this... this goes on the coach. How can you bring back the entire team and play so poorly... I don't care about other teams getting better... we brought back nearly everybody and we were playing crisp and intelligent. You don't lose your mind over the summer. This team should have known how to play when they started the year because they knew how to do it last year when it ended.

If this team doesn't know how to play that's on the coach.

In 2010 (hockey east game) one guy had a GAA of 4.00 and a save percentage of 91.0 the other has a GAA of 2.30 and a save percentage of 92.5 round numbers (before tonight) . One has clearly set himself as the number one but we still do a rotation, doesnt make much sense.

I have two questions....who's this Tim Whitehead and why can't we beat coaches like that??!!

Sitting in a hotel room, eight floors above KBGR with a gorgeous view of the airport operations, I can't really put it words the feeling I have right now.

Tonight was both a offensive clinic and simply offensive. While there was not much stellar goaltending and in some way defense on either side of the ice, Maine was far and away the more gifted team on offensive tonight. 12 combined goals on 42 shots. The third period without question was the most embarassing period I've witnessed in my 16 years of watching Lowell hockey. Mike Lange doesn't have a catch phrase to describe how badly goals 6, 7 and 8 were put past Hutton.

Lowell scored four goals tonight and came back to pull within one at the end of two. While it wasn't pretty start, Lowell still had a chance in the game. That lasted all but a minute into the third where the fluke goal by Maine went in and ended any chance (in my book) of a Lowell comeback.

It's been ten years since Whitehead left Lowell and I after tonight's game I'm wondering if this team as a whole is in a better position than it was ten years ago. I'm sorry folks, this simply isn't working. We have the same won-loss record in HE as Merrimack.

Lowell will lose 2-1 tomorrow....I don't know if this team can make the playoffs.

You are right that Maine's number one line scores a majority of their goals.....scary part for the rest of the league is that Maine only graduates 3 guys, all of which don't really matter.

i wouldn't go that far.... 7 guys for maine have 20 or more points, another has nineteen, and there are 11 guys with 10 or more points...

the line of house, flynn and nyquist has 42 of the 111 goals scored on the season... in terms of overall point production, they have accounted 109 of the 308 points on the season... so roughly a third of the point production comes from the top line which is not that over the top in the grand scheme of things... what maine has going for them is that 10 players have scored five or more goals and that only three players (all freshman defensemen) have failed to score a goal on the season

There is one stat that on the year I find very disturbing. I see that Dehner is a +16 5 on 5, Schaus is a +11. The problem I have is Edwards who is a -7. I can not understand how Blaise can keep letting him play, (at least 5 on 5) maybe switch him to forward, where he seem to be better suited. Or maybe he is just thinknig about where he will be next year, and doesnt care? But how can he be a -7 ????????????

Agree 100% ,I'm not mad just very disappointed. Can't help but feel sorry for the players, not the coach he gets paid good money to put a winning team together.

He's usually out there with either Blair, Goers, or Cappy. None of which are great. Barry has gotten worse each year since his freshman year, IMO. Blair has turned into another Kim Brandvold, and Cappy, well he's a nice guy.
