UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

And as much as some/many of us look at the remaining teams and think those are games Lowell should win ... PC just gave BU a tough time this weekend, winning at home and losing by a goal at BU. And UVM went to UNH and lost in OT and tied.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

I believe Lowell clinches a spot in the playoffs if they get 3 more points than UVM this weekend.

Correct, but if this happens, that's going to make home ice very, very difficult to get.

BU would get three for 27, we would then have 26 (with a PC sweep). NU would have to take at least three points from BU and we would have to take at least three from UVM.

Agree, PC will have no pressure on them and they can play the spoiler role over the next couple of weekends. UVM will be coming in needing those last two games as bad as Lowell does. It should be a crazy two weeks. They just need to take it one game at a time, thankfully they have 3 out of the 4 at home.

And here's hoping the students really do come out these next two weeks.

Monty's status is appropriate...it's going to be "One Beer at a Time" over the next two weeks.

Lowell can only control the next 240 minutes of hockey during the next "fortnight". Other than that's we will have to see where the chips fall. All things considered, they have the "easiest schedule" in the league for the last four games. It does them no good if they don't come out sharp like they did on Saturday evening.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

One other thing ... I've said my piece about the freshmen and their play recently just being ... lacking. It's good to see that Wright got a couple of goals this weekend (and an assist) and Wetmore add a goal and an assist. Wetmore's two points this past weekend doubled his point production for 2010 prior to this weekend. Wright's three points tripled what he had in 2010.

Lowell picked up the split and thats all I expected. I didn't get to listen to much of either game. Any word on how Dehner looked?

It was nice to see the offense get back on track. Anything less than 4 points this weekend will be a huge disappointment.

Not so good Friday but better Saturday.

Lowell remains in a tie for sixth place in HE as BC beats Merrimack tonight 7-0.

This is very important that Merrimack's game in hand was not a win.

At the same time, this win by BC elminates Lowell from getting second place.

Maybe my math isn't adding up... but BC now has 30 points with 3 games to go and Lowell is at 22 with 4 games to go. Based on that alone, if Lowell goes 4-0-0 and BC goes 0-3-0, they both end up with 30 points and UML has the H2H tiebreaker...

My bad, I thought they got 31 pts tonight...

However, they play an Amherst team that is heading the wrong way on a one way track at the Heights on Saturday, so it may be a temporary reprieve until then.

I think we're better off with UMass continuing to lose this weekend, and maybe pull of an upset at Maine (where they don't seem to have the problems Lowell does).

Also, with BU losing Trivino for the season, that's not a catastrophic loss for them, but it hurts ... since I'm believing more and more that BU's going to be our first round opponent (home or away).

I just can't believe how frustrating this Lowell team is. Since January 29th BC is 7-2, and have scored a whopping 40 goals. But they played Lowell in two of those games and only notched 3.

Lowell can play with anyone ... why don't they prove it every weekend!

It's scary to think that the road to the HE title currently would be BU (as I mentioned above), UNH and BC in the title game. Would anyone here bet money this Lowell team can't do it? Then again, would anyone bet they can?

The league is so crazy this year that anything can happen once the playoffs start. Any team that makes the HE playoffs this season has a shot to win it
