UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

It was good to see Edwards getting some good rips on net. PC's pk was not at all aggressive on the point, BC was all over them a couple weeks ago caused them all sorts of problems.

Edwards seemed to get next to no ice-time as the game went on. We wondered if the bench minor was related to something he did/said....

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

By far the most dominant performance of the season. Let's not forget that we have to come back with the same effort tomorrow night to continue our long but still doable quest for home ice.

Speaking of which, Lowell got almost a perfect night of results on the scoreboard, save NU getting a point. A three way tie for fourth place where we can hold on our own with a win tomorrow night.

Don't dismiss the penalty on Blaise for giving the ref some early "Easter Greetings". This is not the first time that he's gone overboard on a ref and gotten tagged for it. It was still only 1-0 and not a smart move. Providence is one thing but you can't be pulling the same stuff against the Maine, BC, UNH, and BU's of the world with a free power play.

I'm not worried about Blaise. If Lowell takes care of business tomorrow I'll be a happy guy.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Anything other than total obliteration of PC tomorrow and I'm going to lose it.

Lowell dominated the entire game. They could have had a six pack in the first period if not for the missed chances. There's no excuse for the 'Hawks not making tomorrow night a laugher.

PC looked completely defeated. Time to step on their throat, Alliance aside.

Well, this was the game was another edition of the good, bad, and the ugly.

The ugly was the first period opportunities that were not cashed in by the River Hawks, two of which had twenty four square feet of net in front of them and came back to haunt us; honorable mention for the second PC goal.

The bad continues to be the slow starts in games where they should have the momentum having a win from the previous night before. They let PC hang around by not converting many juicy rebounds given by Beaudry and it cost them two goals.

The good was they completely took over the game in the second and third periods, force a tie, and arguably steal a point. The River Hawks are alone in fourth place (for now) with the final home ice spot by a point. NU losing to UNH did help.

Overall, not the best of results but by far not the worst that could have happen. We need the Catamounts to win tomorrow night and keep BU at 24 to control our own fate and retain that point going into next Friday. Otherwise we would need help by Northeastern.

Kory Falite....whoa boy. Misses two, I'll say, wiiiiiiiiiiiiide open nets. Then snipes the holy hell out of the puck for the second Lowell goal.

A very frustrating game. Lowell wasn't that bad for the first 15 minutes of the 1st period, but they couldn't get it together. Once PC got that first goal the period went down hill quick.

The most frustrating part, and Blaise had touched on it on the show last Tuesday, were the bounces. Lowell didn't bury the chances they did get, and so many times the puck was JUST off where we needed it to be for some great chances. PC gets a freak puck bounce when Carter is down and boom, goal number two. At some point we need to capitalize on these chances if they hope to salvage this already disappointing season.

Alright... a little good news bad news... now seeing I'm in Arlington none of this stuff will be earth shattering and kinda obvious

pending the BU/Vermont game we control our destiny... obviously that BU/Vermont game means a lot to this... that being said.

Good news: We would control our on destiny with a tie or a Vermont win

Bad news: We're going to have to do pretty **** good against Vermont (3-4 points) because both NU and BU will be playing each other with similar numbers of points on the year.

So, that being said, clearly we're in the hunt but we'll need a sweep this coming weekend to be solidly in that position for our first home ice since 2002.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Got lost in the shuffle, but two UML points or a Amherst loss next week will clinch a playoff spot. Amherst can only gain 26 pts and that with a sweep of Maine at Alfond.

See Todd's HE thread for the rest of the scenarios, largely dependent on the results of this afternoon's game at the Gut.

Fix your location...:D

The only thing I see is that we do not control our destiny with a tie. BU and UML would both have 25 pts with BU owning the tiebreaker, really forcing us to get 26. If they tie, we would need substantial help by NU in addition to taking three or four points from Vermont. Other than that, there's no use going through the home ice scenarios until this afternoon's game is played.

Dont know whats wrong with Edwards. I also noticed Schaus didnt play in the overtime, he seemed to be favoring his right shoulder late in the period. No Edwards or Schaus against Vermont!!!!! utt ohhhh

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

2 wins... its senior week boys... leave your legacy.
Bingo. And for all the Lowell fans on this thread ... bring your friends. I'm bringing four each (at least) to both Friday and Saturday.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

You know, after the painful and yet embarrassing losses to Merrimack, BU, and UMA about a month or so ago, I was fully prepared to travel for the playoffs.

With a sweep next weekend, the boys would have done something that has not been done in eight years, host a playoff series and accomplish one of the primary goals this year.

Not many people get second chances or mulligans, it's time for the boys to show HE that they were deserving of the preseason accolades by winning a big series, arguably two of the biggest regular season home games in not only the boys tenure, but Blaise's as well.

Time to put it on the table.

John, you're completely right. The seniors talked a lot early in the season about wanting to leave a legacy ...

Well boys ... you have a chance to start backing up your words, and it begins Friday night.

I'll be back from Amsterdam on Thursday evening ... and will be there Friday and Saturday (probably still inebriated). C'mon Lowell!

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Two home games stand between Lowell and home ice. The Tsongas should be crazy. This weekend will tell me everything I need to know about this team.

This season has already told you everything you need to know about this team... you have no idea what team you're going to get.
