Ticapnews —-please tell us when Maine’s last come-from-behind, 5-goal 3rd period was (I think I recall a game against Providence at the Alfond back when Shawn was coaching)

Looked like it was going to be another one of those nights but Ostman made some timely saves on a bunch of high danger chances.

A little puck luck with the posts (think UConn hit 3) and that puck off Percival's skate near the end of the game definitely helped.

Still gonna be a little worried about him going forward as the piece that holds this team back but the finish should be a nice confidence boost for him.

I'm actually not sure UConn hit more than 1 post. The third ended up being the Percival skate and the second may have been a blocker save. Either way, VO is still too shaky. I would play Boija tomorrow night and next Friday. If Boija plays well enough, we turn over the net.

They scored four(real) goals against Harvard but were down three instead of two in that game. Obviously the stakes were slightly higher as well.

I think they had a big comeback against Huntsville in 2012 but can’t find the box score. They might have had one or two other games like that as well that year.

Three posts. Rewound each of them. But this Maine team kept going.

Gutsy win. I feel like that first goal for UConn really set the tone for the team in the first two periods. He’s gotta have that. He made some good saves after though. I wonder if Boija plays tomorrow with the quick turn around.

Did anyone notice that Breen was playing more with Houle and Freel and Scott with the Nadeaus for the third? Certainly seemed to work.

It also looked like Barr/Fourtier changed up the power play personnel as well with Poisson on the top unit….although this coulda been cause by a late change or something.

Yep, it was good to see this. Certainly energized both lines. Maine was very quick, and short of a few too many bad breakout passes, they were dangling with the puck all night. Havent seen that kind of puck control since Walshy days. Momo in Maines court today. 3pm game, man that sucks, gotta be tough for both teams to get ready that early following a hard fought game.

Certainly hope Cav doesn't have his boys head hunting this afternoon if the game doesn't go their way

Good win after a bad start. Team wasn’t ready to go at the start. Especially Ostman, the first goal was awful. He seemed to get it together as game went on. If teams stay away from glove side he isn’t playing very well. Be interesting if Boija goes today.

Holts shortie opened the flood gates. The Nadeau boys made UConn pay. Another tough game this afternoon, why a 3pm start? That’s a good way to hurt someone if you ask me. UConn has had Maines number for a few years glad to see Maine flip the script.

Maine got a wakeup call last night...play 60,not always easy...but team never quits. 3 more big points on the table today. I think they go with Boija...and tinker with lines again, along with pp units. This has to be a big incentive for UConn...basically folding with the lead...Maine does need to cut out turnovers on both bluelines...expecting a physical game today...penaltys could be the un-doing for one of these teams...great comeback which in turn should be another confidence booster for Maine.

Victor has the 10th best S% in an 11 team conference. I would at least like to see what Boija can do going on back to back nights.

Jimmy Howard had an unbelievable save percentage, but Timmy played 5-man D in front of Jimmy and no shots came from much closer than the blue line.

Ben’s boys have only pushed opponents around near the crease in the Dartmouth tournament, every other game, opponents stand around unmolested…no lifting sticks, no cross checks to the hips near the crease. That kind of D leads to bad save percentage.

the harvard game was in a regional? I think I remember that game. I was at a Ground Round with my boss…a harvard grad. Back in the Doov Grommet Morris days. I could not cheer much for Maine because I wanted to keep my job.

Doyle replaced Howard in net that game

Frankie was a stud and would have gotten much more attention if he hadn’t been at Maine with Jimmy

Doyle also landed in the worst NHL organization if he wanted to have any shot at NHL action because Brodeur was in his prime starting 75+ games a season.
