Team apparently had a collective fall GPA of 3.71, which according to the team Instagram is the highest of all-time.

Hey all, looking for 3 tickets together for Saturday Feb 24. Bought tickets for Friday but it looks like Saturday is very vary scarce if anything....willing to pay face or above for right seats, coming up from Mass. Let me know, thanks!

Based on the weather forecast for Sat, I would stop at the ticket window on Friday night. May have opened up some seats. Might well score what you want then, or, just grab whatever and almost be assured you will find a lot of no shows on Sat so there may be options on where to sit regardless of seat location bought…. If me, I would do the latter and just get in the door then look for the obvious “no show” seats.

Gosh people, take a breath
Drew is simply posting his thoughts.
He’s never said a single critical word about Barr’s coaching. For years, Drew has followed Heisenberg’s recruiting page and he looks into who the blue chippers are.

anyway. We are all happy Maine’s been doing well this season. I would not have bet that Maine could have won 4 of their first 8 this season. (I had HOPED for RPIx2 and one merrimack win). I was pleasantly surprised they won many more than what I had hoped for.

as for Lynden and the Nads vs. Monty’s line. They are very different.
The Nads are much cuter, trying pass-pass-pass, cross ice all the time. Monty/PK and LowCal didn’t do that, but scored more. (Of course maine had three lines on NHLers back then.)

GO Nads!

It will get lost in the cycle of Drew's crying about Barr and Alfond reno's, but this is a massive sign that Ben Barr's culture works ON TOP of the on-ice production. Parents (and students) want to know that these kids are going to become the best versions of themselves on ice, as well as off ice. Clearly the commitment to hockey is working, but the fact that he's getting buy in elsewhere is a huge deal. Follow the programs that succeed, this follows suit. An underlying selling point to any prospective recruit, on top of success and renovations.

If the AthDept had originally received what they now have from the generous alfond foundation, $170mil, should they/would they have built a new rink?

Oh and thanks to warren buffett too.

Games are at UConn this weekend

I've been thinking about this....seems like some more vocal members of the fan base say they should have absolutely not replaced Alfond. My feeling is that the football program really stood in the way of doing a new hockey AND basketball facility. If Maine had decided to drop football.....the current Alfond Stadium footprint could have been used for a new hockey facility.....with the new basketball facility attached and placed in the same general area where Morse Arena will be going. Probably could have done dual skyboxes overlooking both rink and basketball court. Alfond then could have been dismantled and the footprint used for more parking....possibly a 2 or 3 level garage? I think that they are doing a pretty good job at planning the future layout of the entire athletic complex but it still bugs me that they are going "all in" on football when there is so much uncertainty swirling around collegiate football at the FCS level.

I want to echo this. Look at successful college programs in any sport, and the commitment is throughout all facets of the program. It's easy to say "oh, it's not a tough school, and I bet most of them are KP majors" but even in that case you need the top to bottom buy in from the kids and the support staff to get everyone going to class, doing their work, putting in off-ice work in the gym, working hard in practice, etc. It's truly building a culture and showing that things are well organized and well run.

And a large part of that success is recruiting the kind of kids who fit that culture and who want to work their azzes off , which is what Barr has said is his goal and he has been successful in that over the years.

Maine gets their fourth 2007 born commit.....Minnesota native Malachi McKinnon....currently with Long Island Gulls U16.

He was a high pick in the USHL draft which is a good sign. Doesn’t look like he has played much recently so hopefully if he has some kind of injury issue it isn’t a long term thing.
