“The New Mexico Ice Wolves? organization today announced that Jack Dalton, 2023-34 captain of the New Mexico Ice Wolves, has commited to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Maine and will be joining the team immediately for the second half of the season.”

Well, we did need depth. As the article mentions, four of our current guys are from the Wolves, including Scholle and Holt, so hopefully he can be a regular contributor like those guys.

His numbers are decent enough but surprised they would bring in a righty instead of a lefty.

Pretty sure Blake Montgomery is no longer committed to Maine. Would be a punch to the gut as he was catching fire for Lincoln in the USHL. Looking like Kuzma, Pichette, and potentially Brock James coming in the fall up front. Not sure who else joins them and if Breen or Houle extend another year. Maine will be fine but he looked like he had high end skill.

Maybe five years ago. If you’re not going to significantly change capacity I don’t think a new rink makes sense.

If and that's a big if...on a new arena...but on a College like Maine...5,500 to no more the 6000....Fill it but don't gamble on a rink @ 7k.

Agreed.

A 6K arena with all chairbacks would have been great and appropriate for this program....probably would have cost $120 million though. And a majority of fans seem to want to keep Alfond. My main issue with Alfond is the lack of legroom....it's pretty bad. $46 million should buy them nice coach and player facilities on par with North Dakota/Big Ten programs.

Im with you too. I hate to say it but I will, the alfond is a lousy facility to watch a hockey game at, too much so to list, great atmosphere.
In comparison Mullins ctr is a 100mil job in todays dollars, saw this somewhere, and Its more than what we need.
Id go 4500 to 5000 good seats, close to ice and steep as it can be. Too many seats and the lean years its not full, half empty rinks make for lousy atmospheres like these other newer rinks experience.
Location of a new rink would be tough, where they had the rendering located was weird
Well renovations it is, player side should be awesome which is great to see.

Perfect location would have been where Alfond Stadium is located....meaning no football. All things considered....I think that they've done a pretty good job so far in planning everything out. It's exciting that UMaine is actually going to have real D1 athletic facilities.

Should be a tough game tonight. UConn at home, if we can get a few points this weekend I’ll be happy. Is Boija in net?
