Looks like the Bentley game in Portland is already a sellout (as is tonight's women's game vs. Indiana).....good sign for the program with strong support from the Portland metro area.

A good bit due, imo, to Ken Ralphs work. It was a good day when he was hired, too bad he left.

FYI I have 2 tickets to that game if someone wants them, just let me know. I can mail them to you. I'm a season ticket club level holder and I got 2 tickets as part of my package but I'll be away that day.

Once upon a time, Bob was UNH's version of Grant Standbrook. If Standbrook ever did TV color work, I'm sure his biases would eventually seep through as well. If you're emotionally invested, that's a tough spigot to shut off.

Ironically, the last times I've seen Bob were at a few professional (non-hockey) seminars a decade or so ago, but I doubt he's still active now in what he was doing then, as he's now 80 years old. Nice guy, salt of the earth.

His son Pat scored his only UNH goal in the final game ever played at Snively Arena in March 1994, on a deflection off his posterior IIRC? It was a HEA Quarterfinal game, so his dad may have been doing color for the game, which UNH won in double OT 7-6 in what was also BC HC Steve "Count" Cedorchuck's final game in charge at The Heights.

Those were the days, my friend ... we thought they'd never end ... as the song goes, anyway ...

I can understand that if he was color guy for a UNH production but it was NESN and he was anything but neutral. His hatred of Walshy was especially obvious

Yup.

Women's basketball sets an attendance record in Portland tonight....5,983.

I'm not sure how many of y'all follow the betting market, but Maine is -220 tonight which is a HEAVY favorite. I definitely though Maine looked a step quicker during the exhibition at Colby but that was a 1 goal game won on a real bad defensive breakdown for UNH. The resumes for both teams are similar and every poll has these two within one or two positions of each other. Lines like that get me nervous.

Idk if anyone else pays for EP Rinkside but there was a nice feature about the top 25 PWR teams.

Some better goaltending and we'll probably move closer to the top right of this chart.

I assume a lot of that is Maine’s home advantage? The biggest thing that makes me nervous is having two weeks off. I wouldn’t be shocked if Maine is a little rusty to start the game, but with that being said Maine so far this season has started games well.

What could hurt Maine is not rusty but being too fired up against a arch rival...figure Maine comes out like the barns on fire...hopefully they play discipline hockey and "IF" they score the first goal the roof could very well come off...Plus @ the rink @ 2pm and students already in line...just like old times...which is great imo.

You worry too much

What is the expected goals based on?

The chances that an unblocked shot attempt becomes a goal, based on shot location, type of shot, etc.

Not 100% sure what data points InStat have for the NCAA. Some leagues do a much better job of tracking stats than the NCAA does.

Other than some brutal defense just then by Maine's D, one of whom was ID'd as Arnott by Mannix and Tuell, I've liked what I've seen so far. NH had nothing doing on their PP.
